Stolen Yesterday - 2 Rolex, 1 Tudor

I hope I am able to post this.

On July 3rd my home was broken into and three watches were stolen. I live in Bernardsville, NJ. I am working with the local PD and have filed a police report and a property loss report. I have yet to speak with the insurance company.

In the interest of time, I felt it may make sense to post the makes, models and serials to TRF:

Rolex Sea Dweller 116600: 96V52731

Rolex Submariner 14060M: Z289703

Tudor Black Bay Black 79220N: I577954

I’m unfortunately realistic about the outcome here, but I figured that it was worth a try to alert the community in the event any of these watches end up in the hands of any one of the members.

Please do not hesitate to contact me.

TRF Admins - my apologies if this is not considered an appropriate thread/post.

Sorry for your loss. Report to Rolex. Then if they go for service they will be held and you will be contacted...

Hopefully they will be pawned in which case the serial numbers will get flagged in the police system. You might want to get the details recorded in neighboring States assuming the systems are independent.
Good luck. Was in a similar situation 3 years ago, worse day of my life.

buy a gun safe, liberty makes good ones. Often the thief will wait a little while for you to get paid and replace what they stole, then they come back.

Appreciate all the kind words - yeah, it sucks. Since the 3rd, I’ve registered the stolen property with the national stolen property database and spoke directly with RSC in NYC and followed their process to register the watches as stolen in their database. They couldn’t have been more helpful, so glad I did that.

I keep perusing the forums and eBay looking for them, but I’m realistic about the chances of getting them back. As the saying goes, it is what it is.

Stay positive! Had this happen to a friend in Illinois. He essentially gave up and forgot about it because so much time had passed, mind you about 1.5 years later he got a call that someone was trying to pawn it, low and behold he got it back! You never know!

Sorry to hear. Have you notified Rolex? Perhaps they can flag the serial #s in their database.

So sorry for the loss.
I've also added them to the Alpha Hands stolen watch registry - I hope that it can help in their recovery.

I wanted to ensure I followed up this thread with a status update on my original post.

Thanks to a private message on this forum from another member who discovered the watch being sold on a supposedly reputable gray market site (and who I simply cannot thank enough), I was able to recover the Sea Dweller listed above. In addition, it has been confirmed that this seller also sold the Submariner and the Black Bay. I need to clearly state that I do not know if this seller sells or tries to sell on TRF, but if there is a way to confirm privately, please reach out to me and I will work with TRF administrators to ensure they are made aware ASAP.

The local police and the county prosecutors office in which I live have the “business” - I use that term loosely in this case - subpoenaed for their transaction records in question. Since the Sea Dweller was not sold at the time of discovery, it was recovered by the police in the state in which the business operates and returned to me today.

At this time, and facing both overwhelming evidence connecting them directly to both receipt and sale of stolen property and now subpoena, the owner of the business has chosen to be less than cooperative. The police are prepared to issue a warrant to arrest and seize the records if no compliance occurs by the subpoena end date.

We could not have gotten this far without the message sent to me by the fellow TRF member and that is the other reason why I am posting this update. I simply cannot thank this person enough for being so aware and bringing what was found to my attention. It is the sole reason the Sea Dweller is back in my possession today.

Fantastic news! Once things settle, do you mind sharing this gray market site? Feel free to PM if you’d like.

WOW! We almost never hear news this good!

I'd really like to know the site as well - it could save a lot of potential headaches and could give us a clue if any of us have potentially bought any stolen watches! Hopefully you can share publicly or privately!.

Congrats. this deserves to be public knowledge to warn potential buyers that they may now, or in the future be in possession of stolen watches. Clearly the dealers response is worrying.

Congrats on getting at least one back!! It’s awful fishy to me that this “grey” was in possession of all three watches.

Yes please list the dealer, even if in a PM. Thanks!

Congratulations, TVal07. Progress is being made and an "involved party" sounding as if they are in for some SERIOUS GRIEF! EXCELLENT!

And what newenglandpatriot said above. Repeat burglaries DO occur on occasion after you have had time to replace items.

Our Liberty Lincoln safes (yes, plural) give us great peace of mind when we are away. These Lincolns are tough, tough, tough. No one but pro's with cutting torches and diamond saws will be able to breach them. Hard Pickeled Steel, many Mil-Lock bars, very tough frames, and all that.

(I am in no way affiliated with the Liberty Safe company, just a huge fan.)

Please List the dealer who had some involvement in this transaction; it’d be good for the community to know as many straightforward facts as possible

Huge Congratulations! I'm so happy to hear you got one back and that the Police are involved. They will get to the bottom of this! The Grey seller may have purchased the watches not knowing they were stolen but they are obligated to work with the authorities.

I always wondered if Grey sellers looked up the serial numbers of watches they buy from people, they should. It seems to me they might be selling some stolen watches not knowing they are!

Thank You to the TRF Member who figured this out and contacted you! You are Awesome!

I will absolutely share the name of the dealer as soon as the subpoena date passes and I get an update on status/next steps from the police. Believe me, I don’t want anyone to think I will not be willing to put the name out there.
