I actually never heard of them because they are too expensive for me! :)

https://www.bikeradar.com/reviews/co...-wheel-review/

Looks like good stuff to me.. interesting they also had spoke break but they claim wheels are durable. Stuff happens.

Nice wheels!

After riding carbon wheels for the last few years, I could never go back to aluminum.

I got a great deal on a 29er Enve upgrade when I bought my current bike. Before that, I ran some Derby 30mm wheels on my 27.5. In seven years of hard and frequent riding on carbon, I had to true a rear wheel once. Once.

When I ran Stan's Arches & Flows, I would get two seasons out of them (mostly rears) before they were trashed. Granted, they are a mere fraction of a carbon rim, but I sure like never having to think about my wheels.

They’re a good value. They get my endorsement. The spoke didn’t break under tension, I caught a tree branch in my wheel. Even the best wheels (whatever that means) can break a spoke under those circumstances. When a 1200g mountain bike wheel set breaks a spoke and barely comes out of true and let’s you finish your ride, I’m not going to complain. All told, Stan’s have been good wheels for me, on road and off.

I can’t complain about either (Ali or carbon) my experience with carbon has been great () on my Dt Swiss xrc 330 rims I hit a tree root sticking out of a bank side at axle height, stopped the bike dead and obviously threw me over the bars, rim was untouched and still as true as the day it was made

I did destroy it when I miscalculated a small jump and landed on the sharp edge of a rock, sounded like a shotgun going off!!

Using industry 9’s now on my latest bike, world of difference when it comes to climbing and ‘accelerating’ compared with the stans I have as spares but I’m pretty sure the stans could take most that the uk has to offer

Wow! I’d really feel bad if I backed my truck over those wheels! Still waiting for my bike to be repaired.

What do you guys think about the new Specialized Rockhoppers? Specifically the Elite 29? It looks pretty good with the 1x10 Deore for around $1,300 CAD.

I test rode the Rockhopper before making my final purchase. If I hadn't decided I needed a softtail, it was going to be either a Rockhopper or a Kona Honzo. Both are excellent hardtails.

If you mean the Expert, it is a good bike that should last for years. The expert range in Specialized’s lineup is always the sweet spot for performance versus cost for most serious, but not wealthy, riders. The only upgrades I ever made to my Specialized bikes (all experts BTW) have been the wheels after a couple of seasons of hard riding.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to go ahead and grab one. Here in Canada there are 2 versions that I am interested in.

- Expert 29 ($1,499.00 CAD)
- Elite 29 ($1,349.00 CAD)

From what I see, the main difference between the 2 is the 1x10 Deore (Elite 29) vs. the 1x12 SRAM SX Eagle (Expert 29). The SX being marginally more expensive than the other.

Do you guys have an opinion on one vs the other? The price difference is pretty much a wash imo. I have read some reviews online and it seems that the Deore is the preferred.

It's like Arches and Flows were simply consumables. Arches were my favorite rims when they were made with machined braking surfaces. Built many, many of each. Arches paired with 35mm Ravens was my hot dirt road setup, before GRVL was a thing.

On a mountain bike, Shimano is my choice of drivetrain. I’ve had many SRAM bikes in my day, and I just don’t like the ergonomics or the rear derailleur mechanics. SRAM shifts very well, it’s just the feel and ease of use that I don’t care for. SRAM brakes are also suspect in my experience. So long as you have the same gear range with both drivetrains, the number of gears is extraneous to me.

Just got back from the trail for the 2nd time since 5 years as my last time riding (since that awful bloody spill I posted a few pages back, actually), and this time I made better time than last week, putting me on the shorter side of advanced level this time to complete the loop (as opposed to intermediate time frame last week). And that was with two mishaps, one a fall (slippery root). Progress! I think the 4 years of Rowing has kept me in OK shape even though I have taken a year off from it.

Here's a pic of my ancient steel frame hardtail. I definitely want a new 29 er... but for now I'll enjoy this.

X2 on sram brakes.

I prefer SRAM MTB drivetrains but have generally hated their brakes. That being said, I am now running G2 Ultimates.

Was thinking about a Specialized Roubaix, but am tending towards the new Diverge

They seem very similar

Too many choices, and too few opportunities to road test

.

road surface that you'll be riding most should be the deciding factor between those two.

I picked up my bike today after repairs. I’d backed over it with my pickup. The tab was $1,035. Ouch.

I went with Backcountry / competitive cyclist, after calling most dealers in colorado, they where the only place with the right frame size and color anywhere. Crazy how everything is basically sold out!
