Mr President? The quintessential presidential Rolex...which is it?
So in my quick research the 1st Presidential Rolex was 1951 Yellow Gold Rolex Datejust on a Jubilee Bracelet...but so much of what people think of as a "presidential rolex" seem to be the Day Date?
What do you think if you had to own the authentic Presidential Rolex...what would it be? Model: Case Material: Case Size: Dial: Bezel: Bracelet: Also one particular model or year worth more than others...like double red sub or bart gilt dial sub or Newman Daytona...etc. Look forward to your response. |

The president is not the watch but the bracelet and it sits on the DD and was introduced in 1956. President Lyndon Johnson was the first US President to wear it. Good link below:

Yep president made first in 1956. No datejust is really a president as it refers to the band . Stella dials are very collectable, 1804 would be my choice

When I said this on another thread, other posters assured me I was wrong and the President referred to the DD watch. I guess I don't carry the juice of a mod

The bracelet is the President. Without the President bracelet, an 1803 (for example) is simply a Day-Date.
Sadly, few people follow this. Especially those who are selling Day-Dates on straps, as these suddenly become Presidents despite not having the President bracelet. |

I own a 60's 18k day day. I don't refer to it as a president as I'm under the impression that its the the bracelet that is known as that. ie same as the 'datejust on a jubilee bracelet' arrangement.

President nick name for the watch.
While the bracelet is the "President" model, many thru the years call the DD the president. I have heard dealers and ADs call the DD the President. |
