Welding + recut, it's definitely possible, probably half/three quarter of the cost of a new one.

I would buy a new bezel and move on.

Thanks for everyone's thoughts, much appreciated. I think the consensus is that a new bezel is needed. This is my inclination too.

There's a guy on here that did it. Once. And said don't ask me I won't do it again.

You do realize SeaChart is a Rolex watch technician? He says on this thread that it can be done and I in fact have seen some amazing before and after that were way worse then the one op posted.

I think there is a tendency to maybe slightly overestimate the craftsmanship of Rolex watches. Sure the fluted bezel or the crown guards or the lugs are nicely done but it's nothing like machining even the most basic stuff like a camshaft. Rolexes are mass produced nice watches but the craftsmanship can definitely be duplicated and repaired by a decent machinist with an eye for detail and awareness of the OEM specs.

Nothing new, already many years available.
There are a few companies who recut fluted bezels. I don’t have pics but surely google or you tube might help.
Even a few forum members have had their bezels recut and the results posted on TRF.
From what I have seen beautiful and very sharp.

That’s a marketing selling point. Same with the ceramic Pepsi bezel
