3 friends, 3 subs
I was hanging with two buddies this afternoon and I realized all three of us were wearing our Subs. Pretty cool!

Nice trio indeed! Your friends like watches too? My friends have no interest in them.

My best friend called me, almost ten years ago, from a random Rolex AD in Asia. Told me there are two watches he considering, and asked whether he should buy Submariner or “the more expensive one which looks the same but is somehow more beautiful”. Both of us didn’t know much about watches at the time, but I knew a thing or two about my best mate, so I told him to go for the more expensive one. That’s how he bought his SD116600. Years later he let me have his allocation for another watch in local Rolex AD so both of us can have watches we could talk about.
Watches are very social thing, people sometimes forget about that. Not people here, obviously, but the ones who see them just as investment or even technological marvel. |

I came to know one of my best friends and mentor via a steinhart Pepsi GMT hommage. He shaped my views around many things in my life. If I ever make it, I would buy both of us a Pepsi .

One of the guys is sort of into watches and owns a couple including his Sub. The other guy knows very little about watches. I, on the other hand, am completely down the rabbit hole and have been for years. So no, my friends are not really into watches like me per se, and I sort of insisted on taking this picture.
Interestingly, there is probably only one original dial amongst the three Subs, the middle watch. In my judgment, the other two have service dials. I always line up the pearl on the bezel at 12:00 unless I am timing something. I could not live with the aesthetics being out of balance like that! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think it's cool that they look the way they do, worn over a long period of time.

That's crazy. I couldn't get six friends together that even all wear watches, let alone all six wearing the same watch.

Amazing! The 4 and 5 digits proportions look so much better than the chunky 6 digits!

That’s a whole nother conversation. While I do own, love, and regularly wear multiple 6 digit sport models (including Subs), I always find myself putting on my 1680 Sub because it just “feels” so good . . . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
