Forum Ladies - question for you

My wife BD is approaching so ive decided to surprise her with TT DJ 36mm, preferably on oyster. Frankly, im not sure if the dial size is OK for her, even though 40mm Daytona became a unisex watch. I'd really appreciate if you could share you experiences and provide your input on DJ 36 for ladies.

Forum gents, you input is also highly appreciated.

Thank you all!

I have three 36mm watches, two of which are DJs (a palm dial and a turnograph). I also have a bunch of 40mm stainless sports models. I have pretty tiny wrists. I love my DJs and 36 is absolutely the right size for them. Get her a Wimbledon dial.

What is her wrist size? If she is average size 36 should be good.

Let her choose, it’s a pity if you pick her watch whereby she wishes it would have been another configuration. It ends up collecting dust.

My petite wife has all sizes from 26mm to 43mm but nowadays wears exclusively the DJ31 two tone on jubilee. It’s the sweet spot for her.
Personally I like her 26 DJ on President the most.
Imho a DJ must have is a Jubilee

My wife has graduated from a 26mm DJ to a now 40 something mm Omega Planet Ocean so the 36mm you mentioned will be fine and I’m sure she’ll love it

When I was looking to buy my wife her first Rolex, we both were set on a 40mm. When she went to try on a Daytona, she found it too big. The sales lady had on a 36mm and my wife pointed that out, so we went home with a 36mm DJ. I think 36mm should be perfect.

My wife has a Rolex DJ 36mm with the pink floral dial with diamonds on jubilee. She likes the size and has owned 26mm-36mm watches. I would second the let your wife pick comment as my experience is they will know specifically what they want and if it is not right then it will not be worn or it will be sold/traded. Good luck.

My wife has 2-41 OP’s and a 41 Datejust. On occasion she also wears my BLRO on jubilee. Moral of my story is it varies and like someone earlier said maybe it’s best to let her decide. I know that ruins the surprise but it guarantees she gets the one she wants.

Wife also wears 40mm here on occasion, yet the 36mm DJ looks more appropriate for her wrist. She also prefers a pink Mother Of Pearl (MOP) dial with flowers... and some diamonds (your call on the bling factor there).

My wife Andrea is very petite, I think her worst might be 5.25” (I’m nit sure we’ve never measured it but it’s tiny).

She wears a 34mm date as her daily. When she wants to wear something for an oversized look, she’ll wear her Submariner.

I’d echo what @joli160 said, and let her decide.

My wife also went from smaller watches to bigger. Started with a DJ 28, then a 31, which she still wears, but her go to is a Mint Green DJ 36 on Jubilee. She also has an OP 34 and a Nomos 39.
I agree with others though, let her pick. I know it can be tough if you want to surprise her and the lack of inventory but she will pick what she loves.
Good Luck!

My wrist is average size, for a lady, or maybe a bit larger. This is the 36 Wimbledon, on me. Good luck, OP!

What other watches does she have, the size of those cases?

See if the AD can line up a couple of sizes of DateJusts for her to try on, in 34 and 36mm whatever you think would work.

My small wrist is happy with a 36mm exp. 37mm Yacht or a 42 mm exo 2. I also have some large Seiko dive watches. I would say at least 36 mm. But don’t be surprised if she is soon after looking at 40mm watches.

I have a DJ 36 as well as 3 OP’s and an Explorer. I also have several 40mm Rolexes. Unless her wrist is super tiny, go for 36mm

For reference,my wife is about 5'6 and 130lbs and wears a 36mm DJ. It has good wrist presence without looking too big. I think 36mm can look good on just about any woman.

My wife has tiny wrists. I think 5.3”.

Here is a 35mm YM on her wrist for reference. She loves that size, FWIW.

My wife, who’s almost 6’ tall, wears a DJ 36. Fits her nicely.

Datejust 31 is way better but forget the surprise and have her decide.

she has cartier ballon in 33mm, tag heuer aquaracer in 30 and Tiffany T in 30... and none of them are sporty... she wants some type of sporty watch, and I guess TT oyster bracelet will give DJ more sporty look... see the problem is she is petite, so im not sure... but i hope she will like it...

Probably best to not try to surprise her. I’m happy to have my husband buy me a new watch, as long as I get to choose which one, as I did, on Saturday. If it must be a surprise, in the two ladies’ pics just above, they both have small wrists, and their watches look great. As for the gentleman, who suggested a 31 mm, I would never choose that size, and most, if not all of the female forum members wouldn’t either, based on the daily WRUW thread. Good luck.

Brother do not buy a watch for her. Take her to the shop and let her pick it out.

You will thank me after

I totally agree with him. Ask her to accompany you to look at watches, for you. Then, when you get in the store, tell her you are really there for her, so there is some element of surprise. Could be fun, and you know she’ll be happy with her very expensive gift.

My wife is also a petite Andrea haha!

She has an old 34mm OP, 36mm OP and 36mm DJ. She definitely wears the 36mm the most! Her wrists are tiny and I think they look great.

36MM is an extremely versatile size, for men and women, but especially women. That'd be my recommendation.

I’m in the camp of let HER pick out the size, and watch for that matter. What a wonderful Birthday gift to receive! Even more so, if it’s what you truly want and will wear. I don’t know too many females that would turn down some retail therapy on their special day.
