Peter, firstly a very warm welcome to the forum:thumbs:

Secondly and in my opinion there is no such thing as a "Poor man's" Patek.

They are all ridiculously expensive and we are crazy for paying the prices charged

That said we love them and appreciate what goes into making them.

Your 5196G looks great on your wrist

Thank you gentlemen.
My goal was to find a simple, yet elegant piece to wear out in formal occasions. And I think I have found it.

Do you think the 5119 and 5120 can be worn in more casual settings? Perhaps with a brown strap?

Everyone needs to get these dress watch limitations out of their heads. Yes they look best with formal clothing but they don't look out of place when wearing casual clothes.
And a nice brown strap definitely matches with either gold or platinum.

Could be my favorite watch of all time...... I also think that it goes with everything from a suit to just shy of a golf shirt/tee shirt and shorts...... I wore mine on Friday with a sport coat and jeans with loafers.

The thing I like most about the watch is that it is just "there" it does not scream for attention.

Thanks so much. I spent a lot of time on this decision. I had an Aquanaut but I really love vintage. My dream watch is a Patek 3417 Amagnetic but they have skyrocketed in price so this is likely as close as I am going to get.

Remember the above photographs

Well, please let me introduce you to its slightly younger sibling and freshly serviced by Patek

Without doubt my favourite Calatrava

And if you believe that it is the same watch, then take a look at the dial........hint look around the date section.

Thank you! I really like the fragile and minimalistic design. The calatrava is definitely a keeper!
