First Patek

Tried to put my name down on the 5712/1A waitlist four months ago at an AD. Sales person said no such thing but asked for a local business card.

Then I get a call yesterday out of the blue that one has come in but they need my address to “apply” for the watch. Weird. Fortunately I had moved from tiny bachelor pad to extremely overpriced bachelor pad at a well known address not long ago, and the application went through.

Watch already had plastic sticker around case removed, with a bit of streaky adhesive left over. Blue plastic sticker on clasp was still intact. Also weird, the watch came in a travel case while the heavy wooden watch box was just given to me still packed in a cardboard box with bubble wrap. Is this typical?

My guess is someone ahead of me balked at the recent price hike and they just decided to call someone randomly. Cost $38k, pretty steep for SS but one has to live a little sometimes

Completely normal and I’ve heard of this method in China with regards to asking for business cards lol Tom (TNG) brought it up awhile back.

Oh and congratulations that’s a great start!

It's a system that works well in this crazy market IMO. The distributor decides and ADs don't get to play silly games. I've also heard that they're limiting people to one Nautilus per year as of recently.

Concept of address profiling is funny

I am sure AD used it to register the watch in OP's name and address and if the watch is flipped, they will know who is responsible. I predict many flippers use other people's names and contact info, so the business card also helps to verify identity.
