buying/spending on a grail
I am considering strongly buying a grail, at 3x more than other pieces. But holding back despite allocatin ghte money for it. Does anyone wear their expensive grails? is it easy to wear for a daily wear piece?
For example, if my grail was a sub, it would be easy for me to wear - its rugged, easily serviced, etc. But what if about grails like patek pertpetuals or expensive Langes. you're talking 30-100k. Isnt that harder to daily wear? or spend? its the cost of a car on one's wrist. |

I work in an office, and I guess that matters. Yes, I wear my gold president frequently.

I wear every watch I own. No reason to have them if you don't.

Good question. I do not have a 100k watch but my Daytona is my daily and my Jumbo and 5205r are occasional wear. I wear polo shirts to work and so desk dive a lot, which is the reason. If I am wearing full sleeves, anything goes.

My personal opinion is I wear all my watches anywhere and I never wear anything I can’t afford to lose.
That said I’d never buy a watch more expensive than around 10 grand but you live in more rarified air than I. So enjoy.

I have no problem wearing any of my watches and if I got a grail that’s 3x the collection I wouldn’t have any problem wearing that either or I wouldn’t buy it in the first place.

buying/spending on a grail
Wear a solid gold JLC perp on a strap quite often. One of my grails and I love it. Not a fan of safe gnomes enjoying it more than me.

First, I disagree with the car statement. I’ve spent $15k on watches and $3200 on my car Other than that, I agree a little. My dream grail watch is a Patek 5146g with cream dial Super cool and beautiful watch But when would I wear it? I hardly ever dress up I love wearing jeans and vneck shirts everyday Also, having that kinda money on my wrist might make me uncomfortable I’m interested in hearing others thoughts about this too |

One man's grail is another man's beater. In the end it's just a watch, don't overthink it

Wouldn't buy a watch if it wasn't to wear and enjoy regardless of the price point.

All I know is life is short and you only live it once. As Blansky alluded to, you're way of life dictates your comfortable spending zone.
Live happy and healthy. Also, as for using collectible items which can be heirlooms, these things have much more meaning to whom they are passed if you interacted with them more(memories). And if there is no one to inherit, then use it like you stole it. When you climb to the next rung with anything, at first it's like woooow, then a while later you get used to it. Like walking in a new room full of perfumes, then after some time you're nose doesn't even notice. You get used to it, just take care of it like anything else. |

My diver is not quite grail material, but at first it felt a bit unusual to have something of that value on the wrist.
Now I barely give it a second thought and wear it everyday.
