Insurance Appraisal

Hi Everyone,

I’m looking to acquire an appraisal for my Hulk, for insurance purposes. The AD’s previous appraisal was for its retail value, which is now significantly under its current value. They explained they are unable to appraise anything above retail.

Do any of you know a good place in northern NJ (or even NYC) where I can go for an accurate appraisal? I am not interested in shipping the watch anywhere.

Thanks!

Funny, I’m in a similar situation. Looking to get my watches appraised at the market value.

Where are you insuring it? This becomes problematic for one of a kind pieces but some something like a hulk, it might be as simple as providing them an ad from Chrono24 or something similar. I would start by contacting the insurer and ask specifically what they need.

It’s through a regular big agency (not one specific to watches as we have other personal items on the policy). They seem to want an official appraisal for whatever reason

I have mine insured under a Personal Articles Policy. I use this for items not included in my homeowners policy or the aggregate value in the HO policy would not cover the item. It (PO policy) specifically states items to be replaced at current market value.

I pretty much have the same. No ask for an appraisal?

I know a place in the diamond district that does "replacement retail price" on my watches. I've had an AP, my new Kermit (literally did it today), 116500 Daytona appraised there and their appraisal numbers are always fair in my opinion.

I'll send you a PM.

I did the same for my Aquanaut. I just want to be able to replace it if needed. Even though I paid MSRP, I would have to get back on the list and even then it would probably take 2 years minimum. When I talked to a local certified appraiser, I told him the situation and in the statement there’s mention of the extremely high demand and limited supplies causing it to be sold at a premium.

My AD has an appraiser come in once a week to do appraisals by appointment; the AD gave me appraisals for the Rolexes but they couldn’t/wouldn’t appraise my Speedy so this guy did I it. At about five years old it appraised at about double what I paid for it and the appraisal cost me a hundred and fifty bucks. I can’t imagine mine is the only AD with a third party appraiser at hand.

I've had multiple watches appraised at https://www.elitetimepieces.com/ for $39 each without the need to send or take the watch anywhere.

Just need some very good pictures and relevant information.

Jewelers Mutual has accepted their appraisals without an issue.

https://www.federalgemlab.com/apprai...appraisal-updt

Federal Gem Lab in Vancouver Canada is both super reliable and very proffecional when it comes to quick appraisals for insurance purposes.

No need to send the watch to them.

You get a pdf appraisal. And a link to the website with all relevant information.

Best watch appraisals I have seen.

You can prepay your appraisal with pay pal.

Any reputable jeweler should be able to handle the appraisal - pretty simple. Remember to get it for the real number you can replace it for -

Hodinkee was offering market value insurance, no appraisals required, through Chubb.
