I quite like them, most that I have seen would be too big for my wrist. Way, way out of my league price wise but so are a lot of the cars owned and shown on here, doesn't stop me loving looking at the photos and the odd day dream now and again though.
I heard a great quote on the tv about a different subject last night. "Free to those who can afford it. Very expensive to those who can't."

They get bored with the common Rolex. They may even have the rare pieces of PP and AP so they need something thats more exclusive, ultra hard to obtain and mostly ugly so thats where RM comes in. Ever seen the Yohan Blake edition? Absolutely disgusting. |

I think Nadal plays a large role in its attraction, probably the strongest brand ambassador in the watch game, just the sight of Nadal playing savage and brutal tennis with a RM strapped on the whole time is visually very impressive and serves to give a lot of vicarious wish fulfilment to owners.

If they were $500 watches, I would not want one. But I want one because they are very expensive (exclusive). There's my personal problem.

They are reputed to be vibration and shock proof. I've tried them on in several boutiques. Most are impossible to read without my reading glasses. Some looked like the cheap plastic junk you see in flea markets.
They are definitely a "look at me" watch, IMO. No way you will fly under the radar with RM on your wrist. In the right circles though, they will blatantly tell people you have a LOT of disposable income. |

-- Secondhand dealer who lowballed me and then cackled like a crazed hyena
-- Guy at nightclub who asked a woman to come home with him and insulted her after she refused -- Man who screamed at a flight attendant for being too slow with his drink order -- Gentleman who told me that he hated his son and daughter, all within 2 minutes of meeting him I've also met some good guys wearing RM so I should have said "frequently" rather than "almost invariably." In no way do I mean to malign our RM-collecting members here at TRF. |

Thats a great cross-section of miscreants. With time to do the research we might find 10 such YG Diamond-dialed DD Rolex owners for each of those personalities. But I digress - ...and no aspersions towards any TRF YG Diamond-dialed DD Rolex owners Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I guess it really helps every photo you see on Instagram is some celebrity or world leader wearing one. I know we have some members on here that can afford one. Im perfectly happy with my Rolex collection. I wouldnt spend the money if I could. But some of them are pretty cool

I certainly do like looking at them. Very fascinating designs. Though, money aside, I’ll not wear it as they are too big for me and too comical for my taste.

While some of the price simply goes into the name and exclusivity, this video makes some great points on the high end exotic components that separate an RM from just simply being expensive just because. They are gorgeous and whether they are worth six figures is debatable, but what isn't is that they are quite very unique and high exotic quality. That isn't cheap. |

I only have two problems with them:
1. Impossible for me to tell the time on most of the models. 2. The design is starting to look dated and I have a feeling they will one day seem very outdated. |

I like the original concept of RM designing a watch and going to APRP to design a movement without a budget in mind. When the watch is complete you make 5-25 of them and the price is the price. When that design/movement is sold out you move on to the next original design. But now they are taking their lower end movements and just coming out with the same thing over and over again and calling them LEs. They are selling very very well but I cant see the design standing the test of time and for $150k-$250k of their base models with lower end movements I would rather have an AP concept with the movement from APRP.

Kinda like buying a Bentley. Let someone else take the initial depreciation hit. If you really want one, you can pick up a pre-owned at a fraction of the retail price.

They are THE sports watch of the last 10-15 years.
Will they be remembered that way in 25-50 years? I have no idea. But equally I don't know if anyone will place the same value on any of today's hot (by price, design, intrinsic value, history or scarcity) watches. |

Yeh I just read an article about him. It says if he makes you a watch he wants you to
Wear it while you are in your sport. Playing tennis , race car driving , golf etc. they are actually pretty cool pieces. I still prefer the Rolex over all |

Except on the good ones they are sold out with a waiting list for VIP customers and going for over retail on the secondary market.

I appreciate them for what they are but I’d never buy one even if I could afford them.

Richard Mille why so much
They look awful but art in their own way. I appreciate their craftsman ship but my guess is those who buy them, are just trying to outdo their friends and make a statement without saying anything. Epitome of a status symbol to those who know what they are.

The customer experience at the stores is excellent. The watches are another level beyond Rolex and imho AP and patek. Things like the bezel are executed differently locking into place, and the structures integrated into the bridges. The crystals are integral and substantial. The movements are amazing. I would imagine Roger Dubuis helps with them.
I've worn one once or twice. After holding them and wearing them, I did some serious thinking about if I could afford them and what I would have to move around to pull it off. As ferris said "if you have the means..." |
