Which of these Patek Sport Watches Do you Like Best?

Hey Everyone,
I am curious to poll which of THESE Patek Sports watches you like best,
Just purely based on your favorite for casual/dress wear?
(not trying to fit into any collection or focus on any particular function. Vote purely on wearing enjoyment.)

5524g
5164a
5164r
5980/1a (blue)
5990

I am considering all of these, though leaning on one.

Thanks for your feedback

It has to be a Nautilus and the perfect sport complication is the chronograph, therefore it has to be the 5980.
And it's Patek blue!

These are all so good it's very difficult. Maybe 5524. Those 59ers are tough to resist though

Great poll, I find it hard to decide between the 5990 and 5524. I think they are pretty much equal, but for the purpose of the poll I've gone 5990. For me 3rd would be 5980 and 4th 5164.

I have the 5524 and it's not really a sport watch at all. Great casual dress watch with jeans.

Yes, I love that Patek blue… If this was the 5980-1ar blue, I would get it in a heartbeat.
Still beautiful!!

Thanks for the feedback Adam… 5990 in blue would be a no-brainer. I do not by any means dislike the grey dial, just not as vibrant. But functionally , it covers Chrono and Travel Time so nicely.
And I love the symmetry of the 5990.

5524 is so cool though.

so many bases.

Technically you are right as it is a Calatrava, but it looks sporty to me. And as you mentioned, it wears great casually with Jeans.

Thanks Tom, they are all standouts. Kinda leaning 5990 or 5164r, but 5164a and 5524g are right there. 5980 is kinda fading for me because I prefer current production watches and hope to get from a Trusted seller BNIB or LNIB.

Yeah Neil, I have gold, but it's tempting to keep the gold rush going…lol…
We'll see, I do love the comfort and look of the 5164a. Plus benefit of that over
others is extra $$ to sneak another one in…

In my mind, a true sports watch should be in SS and not PM. However I find the 5980 and 5990 to be too thick on my wrist. Those who like thicker watches will certainly appreciate the heft of the 5980/1A and the 5990/1A.

I personally prefer the SS Rolex watches for a true sports watch, rather than the Nautilus/Aquanaut.

Quite a heft. Seems to go better with polo tee and jeans than office wear.

Thanks for your feedback Jon… I know you have a lot of experience with Patek.
I am not really that much into dress watches, and I very rarely wear a tie, let alone a suit.
Last time I did I was on Gaia TV doing an interview, so I do make exceptions...LOL..

Question: is there a sporty modern "dress" watch that can be really worn casually like the 5524g?
I am open to ideas.

I have tried most of the popular SS Rolex sport watches, so looking for a change up.
I still do "currently" have the Daytona C and SD43 which I love.

I hear you though about the thickness of the 5980/5990. I tried on both the white 5980 and 5980-1AR a while back.
It was not too bad for me, but yes a little thick. SD43 is thick too but has the wonderful glide-lock clasp. So I am leaning tropical strap with either 5164a or r.

I really appreciate the feedback

Beautiful shot… I thought long and hard about getting that before deciding to get a brand new 5711 white. So probably would go blue for 5980. Though currently leaning 5164a or 5164r.

I saw that 5980 white in person, and really love it so congrats on a fantastic watch! I am currently loving my 5711 white.

5990

The most complicated PP naut. Plus it's useful for traveling.

I´d love to have a black dial 5980 in my collection.

And after seeing Jorge´s recent pictures of the 5164R I must say it´s really growing on me.

I would love to wear the 5980A.
But I have moved away from the chunkier size watches.
So My choice would be either of the 5164's. But leaning more towards the "R"

5164R for me, followed by 5524G though not sure it qualifies as a sport watch, but then again do Nautilus qualify???
But if I remember correctly you had the 5167R right? Do you still have it? I love mine, perfect RG under the radar watch for me, but the 5164R is amazing as well

5524 is not a sports watch. I believe a sports watch should have a decent level of WR and be on metal or rubber band.

Dress watch goes with strap, you may want to consider 5930G for a sporty dress look even though it is not in the poll.😏

Thanks for starting the post, I am thinking about my next purchase and looking at several of these....

From your list it would be the 5990 followed by the 5980 - I also like the 5726 on a strap :) and would probably choose that over the 5980...now between the 5726 and the 5990, I am having a more difficult time choosing between the two.

OP, you already have a nice collection with the 5711/1A white dial, DaytonaC and the SD43. You mention that you also have a gold watch, which would work as your dressy watch. The two Rolex watches are great sports watches that are durable and can be worn in any sporty occasion. The 5711 is a nice hybrid sports watch that can easily be worn with business attire.

I don't want to speak on your behalf, but I am getting the impression you are looking for a watch similar to the 5711, but with a complication. All of the watches you are looking at are great watches with the travel time and/or the chronograph complication. As you mentioned, the 5164A is quite reasonably priced leaving you with some room for another watch.

Thank you again for all the great feedback.
I am kinda agreeing on the chunkier watches not for me... Wore my SD43 all day
and it is better than the D-Blue and DSSD I had but still not nearly as comfy as
Daytona C or 5711.
I think I like the look of the bigger watches, but not the feel.
So leaning strongly now 5164a or r.
Arnaud I did flip my 5167r but I really miss that amazing finishing on gold.
But Patek has such a nice polishing on the SS versions as well.

Currently leaning for this 4 or 5 piece collection
YG Sub (blue) - have
5711 white - have
Daytona C - have
SD43 - have (would trade if I get 5164r)
5164a or r - deciding

So that covers diver, chrono, travel-time.
Steel, rubber and gold. Rolex SS would be workout and beater.
They all dress up or down fairly well considering that I very rarely wear a tie, let alone a suit.
But I do get very nice polos, long sleeve shirts, pants, shorts, jeans, shoes etc.
