Questions About Inherited DateJust Quartz

I just received this from my mother. It had belonged to my Grandfather. It's been in a safety deposit box for the last 20 years. I was hoping to get some information about this model.

I'm also wondering about the caseback since it's doesn't look like an oyster back.

Also the bracelet doesn't have a signed clasp so is it aftermarket?

Finally who should I take this to for getting it running again? We are pretty close to Rolex Beverly Hills.

Thanks in advance!

That is a fake watch trying to copy a Datejust with a mechanical movement. Google Rolex Oyster Quartz, and you will see a real one. Sorry to give you the bad news.

Thanks! I was slightly concerned about that possibility upon seeing the caseback and bracelet. Before I give my mom the bad news, there is no chance any part of this is genuine?

Two Tone .. A different way of describing it as Rolesor

No, it's because it's only "gold" on one side of the bracelet.

Sorry OP, any cost involved in getting it running again would out cost its total worth. Its only worth about $1 in base metal. It is a really bad fake and not a single part is real. Most likely its a back alley special.

the watch is fake..

Getting it running again is probably just a new battery.

You’ve got to see the funny side of it being sat in a safety deposit box for 20 years!

Looks like an old Bulova or Seiko, or a brand that used to pay heavy homage to Rolex and, someone put a Rolex dial into it. I've seen much worse fake dials especially 20-30 years ago.

Oh that’s a shame. Something similar happened to me. My late father in law had purchased a gold rado and kept it for many years planning to present it to his future son in law one day. Obviously he gave it to me but I saw it immediately. Told my wife but never revealed to him because he’d have been so disappointed in himself. I’m glad I kept my mouth shut. Perhaps you don’t have to tell your mom?
