Thinking Patek 5726 or 5711r. Push me one direction.
I’ve got a decent collection of Rolex’s and now I’ve gotten the Patek bug. I know the 5711 in stainless ain’t happening so I’ve narrowed it down to the 5711r or 5726 both on bracelet. I’m kinda torn because I want an annual calendar/moon phase (hence why I’m looking outside rolex) but also eventually wanted something rose gold in my collection. Prices seem to be all over the place, I don’t plan to resell, but if I buy from a trusted seller which one would I likely lose less on down the road? Or should I get on a wait list at an AD. I know the rolex game but Patek is new to me, your input is appreciated.
My current collection All rolex. Hulk (green face stainless submariner) smurf (blue face white gold submariner) Green face yellow gold gmt Ceramic Daytona white face Day date 40 yellow gold black face diamond stick markers Would be adding to this or possibly sacrificing the smurf.

It seems like the 5726 would be a good fit on your collection

I have a new Rolex Daytona Oysterflex, a Submariner, an Omega Planet Ocean, and a Zenith El Primero. I was in the same situation as you; and TODAY, I committed to the 5726 SS, and will swap out the black leather strap for a brown leather strap. Can't wait. Go for it !!

I tried on the 5711/1r once (about 6 months ago). I cannot get it out of my head. Without question in my mind, the 5711/1r is the way to go here.
Calling Neil and Kevin for some pics..........

Both excellent choices. I would go for the 5711r over the 5726. The beauty of RG, heft and thinness of this piece beats the AC function for me. Add a Patek AC later like the 5396.

I'm in the 5711/1R camp. Just an exquisite PM piece.

All your Rollies will make up for the 5711.
You're short of a complication in your collection, 5726 will suit the bill. Good luck! Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk |

I agree. To me, one of the primary attractions to Patek is their innovative attention to complications. They're literally the "father of the Annual Calendar", and have perfected the perpetual calendar. To get a Patek, and NOT take advantage of one of those milestones/hallmarks, is (to me) missing the boat. No offense to those who have Calatrava's, 5711's, 5712's, etc....just my 2 cents. To me, the Patek name is synonymous with meticulous complications. That's why I bought the 5726 today....not because it's stainless steel....not because it's got a unique rounded octagonal shape, or is in great demand (and highly coveted)....but because I adore the style of this case and face, and, at the same time, respect what Patek can do with complications. A true masterpiece of workmanship. The 5726 says it all.....without having to spend $125,000++++++.

I am in the same predicament at the moment and have identical two to choose from.
I want a daily watch so 5726 seems like a more pragmatic option. I hear that 5711/r scratches way too easy?! |

in most cases i would get the 5711/r. Its that nice. In the context of a collection its a toss up depending on what you have. I wouldn't get it as a daily though.

In my collection I have 5167 (which I use as a daily), the hulk and few other ss watches.
Don't have any RG. I've been told that RG doesn't quite work with my skin tones. IMHO RG looks great on a darker, tanned skin |

I vote 5711r, not only is it absolutely gorgeous, it will cover all the metals in your collection. If you need to get rid of watch keep the smurf, the ultimate SUB IMO, and get rid of one of the SS that way you will have all the metals. I'm more of a sub fan than Daytona so for me it would be the Ceramic Daytona and as a bonus you will get a good return on secondary market.

5726, You have two PM watches, an AC would be a great addition to your lineup.

I absolutely agree. Just checked out the A. Lange & Sohne moonphase watches...and they're stunning. Even the Breguet and IWC watches are very artistic. I wonder why Patek's moonphases are so simplified and stencil-looking? They even use that same simplified stencil-look on their $1M++ watches !! Really?

I can’t help chose as they are both great. Find an AD that will work with you and get it that way. Not worth acquiring on second hand market.

And the calling for the enablers is having it’s desired effect, but on me?!?! These pictures are awesome and troubling, beautiful and dangerous. I still remember the day I tried this one on - it has the perfect balance of the heft of gold and the silky / buttery feel of the gold Nautilus bracelet wrapping the wrist.

I do agree with this, but the RG finishing on the Nautilus is so exquisite that it kind of counts as a comp itself.
