If it’s an occasional dress watch I’d strongly recommend going time only. You don’t need a date on a dress watch.

Two potentials to consider (but these are purely based on my tastes).

1: JLC Master Control Ultra Thin Small Seconds in steel (this one is in rose gold)

2: Grand Seiko SGBW231 (my favourite of these two)

I like gold models of jlc MUT as the cream dial is extremely pleasing
But the stainless steel models all have the silver dial which is something I don’t like. Else the jlc steel MUT moonphase is a easy choice and I would been wearing it by now

GS was also in my consideration too, but they couldn’t fix the thickness issue. Even hand wind watching r somewhere above 10mm thickness, so it’s probably out in this case

Both watches are good recommendation but I have considered them before

Appreciate your kind inputs

Just bought yesterday from AD, DJ41 dark rhodium and diamond-set dial. My dress watch amongst my sports models. Love it.

For a dress watch, I'd be open-minded about going to a smaller size unless you have very large wrists.

A 36mm Date-Just is a classic, not strictly a dress watch but can certainly work as one but may be a bit of a boring choice. I don't like the larger sized Cartier watches at all. I think it destroys the elegance that makes Cartier great.

From Rolex, a Day-Date really is the king. They have white gold options, if you really don't want colored gold, or the classic yellow gold is timeless.

Branching outside Rolex, your world really opens up depending on your budget. The best value for money is going to be a JLC ultra thin, although I personally would prefer saving up through the years to get a Patek or Lange if I was looking at Haute horology.

Another JLC option, that isn't a compromise, is a reverso if you like a rectangular watch. Get that in the medium size and you'll be hard pressed to find someone rocking a better timepiece in a suit.

You’ve got an amazing collection. For a dress watch I would go all out, leather band, gold/white gold and flat, maybe a complication, like a moon phase, but that’s it. Caltrava, Cellini, JLC, or a nice and old one. Dress watches are usually worn for a shorter time, can become a piece of conversation, etc. have fun making up your mind...

OP, check out the Seiko Sarb033. Some call it a baby Grand Seiko. It’s a great piece. I have one on a Italian leather Chocolate strap. from Colareb.

These Carteir tanks are really nice.

For a truly classic dress watch I personally prefer the Reverso’s

With classic shape and proportions, military pedigree, that really remains timeless.

I’ve been thinking it’s a great milestone watch, whether for an anniversary or a new child.

Exactly! Cant go wrong with a Reverso with a suit and a simple steel model is no compromise at all.

Both are good choices but Cartier tank solo is more of a dress watch.
