I for one like a watch presented in a nice box and I too store them, with paperwork, removed links etc. in the closet. Not getting the disdain about how they take up too much space and collect dust, If it's that much of an issue wouldn't it be just as easy to toss them? Yet, they are kept.

Same here.

I like that I got a nice travel case with my purchase.
I'd be just fine w/ the travel case and digital warranty card.

I do have to admit I can appreciate the wooden box and suitcase box I received w/ my smpc300 and speedy.

Seems like the bullet bracelet is coming back. There will also be a new capsule collection and a new line for ladies. Based on Kern’s Instagram, there will also be a new version of the vintage Superocean 1004.

Hope they provide a nice watch roll or something instead of the box

I was just thinking this - or perhaps sell it with a watch winder instead of the box :)

Not gonna happen, Kearns say the the watches will come in a pouch, made from recycled material that can be recycled again.

Agreed. But I’m sure people had this same thinking in 1900.

My two cents is that if I am going to spend thousands on a luxury product I want the luxury experience, including the packaging. I am not buying a Breitling to make a difference in the environment. I am buying a Breitling to have an over the top luxury experience. Stuff like this is a turn off for me.

I like the new digital cards and digital wallet myself. When I purchased 2 Rolex's last year the warranty was activated at the AD. It tells Rolex that the watch has been sold and when. It starts the warranty clock ticking. It does NOT list WHO the watch was sold to. And getting history from Rolex is like pulling teeth.. Breitling's new digital system list when the watch was sold, who it was sold to, any warranty work or service done and when and list your COSC certificate which you can print. It also tells you when your warranty expires If you sell the watch, you can transfer all this to the new owner as well as any remaining warranty.

I think this is perfect for the history of your watch and authentication a perspective buyer or a loved one would like to have. I have purchased 4 Breitling's so far this year and all came with the new card and box. I could live just fine if the gave a travel pouch and warranty card and kept the box. I think verifiable history is much more valuable than a box.

I have mixed feelings on this. I agree with some that the boxes go into a closet never to be seen again... but at the same time they do make the initial purchase process feel special.

Well, maybe a compromise. Instead of the classic box, make the travel case really nice?, maybe something special? Maybe even a travel/display case. Then in time maybe that will become the NEW norm.
Than as time goes on and you buy a different brand one could say to the SA - What?, no travel case? All I get is a box?

Could turn into a new trend. Who knows.

The standard boxes will still be available from what Breitling has said in the past.

Let's take their argument to its logical limit. To really help out the environment, they could limit every customer to 1 watch. Or they could close up shop entirely and tell us to check the time on our phones.

Spot on. The in,y reason they are doing this is it makes sense in the balance sheet.

That said the new box is fine and functional. I kind of freaked out when I didn’t see the warranty card until I learned it was digital.

Although for the money. I want the presentation box.
