DJ41 too big for a small wrist?
Hi, first time poster here.
I've always wanted a rolex since taking a history seminar class at ucla where the prof had a vintage submariner. I always thought that submariners defined rolex until i started looking at other models and really started liking the 41mm dj with a blue dial. The only concern is if it may be too big for me. My wrist, as the salesperson at the local ad measured (in a completely unscientific way by taking a string to wrap around my wrist and then measuring that against a measuring tape - completely random, i know), is 6 and 7/8 inches thick. I liked the look and heftiness of the 41mm dj, but would the classic 36mm be a better fit? Thank you! |

Hi welcome to the forum.
Even though the DJ41 is actually 39mm - every pic/video I've seen; the watch looks massive on a small wrist. Got for the 36mm imo and maybe wait as Rolex might update the 36mm at Basel with the newest movement and thinner lugs like they did last year albeit in the gold config. |

It’s not the 39 or 41 width that makes it look large - it wears long lug to lug.
Best bet is to try on. If lug to lug is an issue, try with a jubilee as the oysters end links stick out quite a lot making it wear larger. Bear in mind it’s not just wrist size that’s the issue, it’s shape. A flat, shallow wrist will accommodate the watch better than a narrow thick one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The dial is a wider diameter that on a Sub or GMT but in all other respects the 41 wears like a five digit with light weight [mine is 129g and my 14060M is 123 but Blnr is 149 by comparison]. 41 sits LOW and is super comfortable to wear. Jubilee option is a bit lighter than Oyster too.

The only way to find out is to try them on. Most will agree that the lugs shouldn't overhang the wrist bone.

I feel DJs wear very small. Unless you have like 6 inch wrists they aren’t going to be small on you.

The 36mm date just is the classic size regardless of your wrist size, in my opinion

6 7/8" is not a small wrist. I would say a little above average. A DJ41 should fit you just fine.

I’m sure the 41 will look just fine. Luckily, any AD will have many for you to try on.

Welcome to the forum
I think it would be a perfect watch for your wrist size Watch sizes are such a personal preference, and I wear anything from 47mm to 40mm. |

Welcome! If you're concerned, try the 36mm on. It's the classic DJ size.

Both, 36 or dj 41 (39) are a perfect option

DJ41 too big for a small wrist?
I’m not a big watch fan.
My limit is 40mm, unless the lug-to-lug distance on a larger piece is less than 38mm and that would need to be a sports model. I know, pretty specific. Here is a picture of my DJ41 on my 6.75 wrist. Wrist shape also makes a difference, and don’t forget, photos skew the way in which the watch appears in real life - always looks larger in pictures. Even the OP39 has the same lug-to-lug measurement as the DJ41. It’s testament to the fact that the DJ41 is indeed 39.5mm. |

I have a 6.75” wrist. The DJ41 with fluted bezel is just a touch too big for my preference, smooth bezel is okay, DD40 is perfect. However, I am really nitpicking here.

Yes, the DD40 is literally marginal in size difference to the DJ41.

I prefer the 36 but I did find that the on the 41, the jubilee wears far more comfortable and looks smaller than the oyster.

I never liked the 41mm DJ or DD. It struck me right away that something didn’t look right. It’s a big dress watch with a big bezel.
It’s just not a balanced watch, simple as that. Don’t buy it, buy a 36mm for sure |

I have a 6.75" wrist. Here's my black dial 36mm (now gone) and my DJ41.

Your wrist is average. Try it on. People are wearing larger watches in general, so it should look fine. It is a matter of personal preference.

DJ41 is a very versatile watch, one reason being it's size. It is both dressy and sporty. The 36mm looked too small on my 6.5" wrist; my wife wears the 36mm DJ.

There's something about the 41 that makes it wear large. Get a 36 and I don't think you would be disappointed. It's historic, versatile, beautiful, and timeless. My 36 is my most loved watch I own
