Are discounts available on new Panerai these days?

Obviously not at boutiques but how about at ADs? I'm looking at picking up an 01661.

My anecdote is "no." Bought a 1392 last month. Word from the AD was that "the last ten Panerai they've sold were sold without any discount, so no discounts would be given until sales slowed."

On a Carbotech model will be the hardest to get any discounts.

1392 is an old model, no discount? i really think you should change AD.

I haven't worked with an AD recently to purchase, but I was offered discounts on models that were similar to the ones I wanted and went through Boutiques. I would say 10-15% pretty standard. It does feel like Panerai is becoming more popular and selling fast again so it could decrease discounts.

I hope the OP gets a discount and if he does please report back.

All I can say is that in the UK, 1661's are selling used for around 12% off rrp in mint condition.

Thanks everybody; I was able to find an AD in NYC who offered 12% off however I went with a local AD who gave me 9% (couldn't wait for a wire to clear, shipping, etc).

Thats a great discount on a brand new item from an AD.

The 1661 is a great watch, do report back on your experience.

Yeah, most ADs didn't want to discount.

On Amazon there is a seller who has a lot of new ones and I see that they have a 10% discount on the list prices.
I can not give more data because I do not want to violate any pre-established rule of the Forum.

I do not think it is an old model as it is on the Panerai page available.

I bought a Speedmaster on Amazon once to spite the local AD whom I despise. This was well before the pandemic. I’d feel a little spookier about buying a Panerai on Amazon.

@blackedge

As of now, Watches of Mayfair have around 13% off many Panerai. WOM are not an AD, but the watch will come from and AD with full warranty.

Has anyone here actually bought a watch from them? Comes with a Panerai warranty or a WoM warranty?

depends on model, 10%-12% seems like do-able.

Mine came from some AD in Europe! I think due to exchange rates the items are currently under priced in Euros.

7% from AD, late Dec 2021, I believe, depends on the model.

I bought a PAM01223 from the London boutique on New Bond St yesterday.
I was able to get a small discount (around 6%) and 3 free calfskin straps (worth around £200 each).
I got a few goodies thrown in too, such as 2 hardback coffee table books about the history of Panerai in their own display case, Panerai pen, Military Italy polo shirt with Panerai on the back (likely will never wear, but cool!) and a watch pouch!

This was the first time I’ve bought from a non-rolex boutique and it was a very different experience in comparison.

@shammad10, by my math's you got about 12% off then. Virtually the same as the grey market at that point.

@shammad, yes that's what I thought, as the value of the straps is £600 and the discount was circa £470. As in the straps are worth a further 6% off.

PS, my overall point was you did well, I was only able to find 13% off via the grey market.
