It’s still with the RSC. The AD said I should get it back by first or second week kf Feb. 2 weeks delay due to New Year holiday

Just got the watch back today. I’ll update how it runs in a couple of weeks. (Or earlier if the inaccuracy is noticeable earlier)
One thing i notice now is the second hand is still hit and miss the markers.

I have a question for fellow OQ owners. If i’m going to remove the bracelet, is there a specific direction i have to push it? (Like holes and pins are bigger on one end) Or it’s just a straight pin that i can push from either side?

Here you go! Looks like new but they couldn’t restore the gap/crack at the second link at the top of the bracelet.

You definitely made the right choice servicing the watch. That's a great, crisp case, and I like the silver romans on the white dial. Very, very nice piece.

I’m not sure either. It was overhauled but not sure they replace the whole movement or just the circuit. I would think it’s just the circuit because the second hand still don’t always land on the markers after the service

Did the invoice list all the parts that were replaced? They do not replace the whole movement...the electronic module is a separate part.

I sent it through an AD so didn’t get anything from the RSC. The invoice i got from AD only say it went through a full overhaul and case polishing

I thought battery replacement for OQ is free for life?

I'd be more bothered by the second hand not hitting squarely on the marker than +2 weekly.

Bracelet gap and loose can be repaired by independent watch makers.

I know this was true for the original Beta 21 movements (James Dowling mentions it in episode 33 of the Time 4A Pint podcast), not sure about Oysterquartzes.

Battery replacement is free. Confirmed by both the AD and RSC. But 2 seconds per week is unacceptable for a quartz especially at this price. It suppose to be one of the few quartz that went through chronometer testing. Rolex never say the exact accuracy but they said shouldn’t be more than 1 minute off per year. So at most it should be 1.1 second per week. And the quartz chronometer standard is no more than 25 seconds off per year.

About the seconds hand not hitting the markers, i’ve read it’s quite common for an OQ. I would rather have it hit though. Do you think this should be covered by the 2 years service warranty? I think if i have time i might try sending it back to RSC directly, not through AD, to let them check the seconds hand.

Which independent watchmaker can fix the bracelet? I only know about the guy in HK who people call him bracelet magician. Never heard of anyone else that can repair bracelet.

When all else fails and you want a smooth second-hand and time keeping within 30 seconds a year, see if you can find one of these. It will cost a fifth of the Rolex service fee.

Just called RSC, she said i can send it in again to check and readjust the seconds hand alignment

Beautiful oyesterquartz there.

I have a 17013 (two tone with champagne dial). The seconds hand lines up with the markers on mine and I would think RSC should be able to get it almost perfect.

The Omega x-33 and z-33 are probably the most accurate wristwatches I have ever used and this vintage oyesterquartz can keep up with these modern quartz watches .... Which was surprising.

I will be taking mine to RSC in Dallas sometime in early 2019. My guess is it may need an overhaul/ service at that point.....which I am dreading.

Please do share how much the total final cost for yours was.... So I can prepare myself :-)

I did it in Thailand and with current exchange rate it would be around 1420 usd
