Patek 5167 Opinion
Hi, I have been offered a Patek 5167 Aquanaut, used, 2014, approx 20k USD(Is it above the boutique msrp price?)
Is this a good deal? Or should I just pass on it? Is the Patek Aquanaut supply demand situation is similar to the current Rolex Sport Models? Any advice would be really appreciated as it will be my first Patek Thanks! |

They are in demand but you should be able get one at retail price brand new instead of above retail for over 3 years old.

US$ 20k is not worth for 3 years old 5167a.
MSRP is around US$ 18k in Singapore. |

prices are rising on the secondary market, but if you can source at an AD for retail that is the obvious choice. You may wait a bit, but its worth it to get a new watch with your name on the papers and for a lower price.
Plus for a first Patek, I would suspect its even more important for it to be in your name as its a big deal to get your first. Somehow, getting "john smith's" 3 year old watch doesn't have the same allure to me as an entry into the brand. |

IMHO it's simple.
If you want one bad enough an you can't find new one in the AD, buy the one you can find providing it's original and mint. |

US MSRP is $18,939 I believe, and like others have said, call around and they can be had with little to no wait

They still seem attainable in the US from an AD without a ridiculous wait. This is not the case in most countries. Up here I'm told of 10+ year waitlists, and that ADs won't sell to new clients anyways.

Travel to the US if you can, this is still available there at AD retail, judging by your country's prices think the AD wait time will be quite long.

$20k? Used they should sell for $15k max, ~13k used if you're selling to dealer.
Here's a great plan. Call dealers, tell them you have _____ to sell and see what they offer you. That's your starting point in price offer the buy one.

That is a great deal. I called around in the US and most ADs would not even take my name. I see them selling gray for 25K unworn. I do not think they are easy to get at all. I do think the aftermarket is topping out on SS sports across the board in all brands. Prices do not seem to be rising and the top priced items are moving slower. I would still be a buyer of this watch at 20K if I wanted the it and it was mint and complete. PP could raise the price on the Aquanaut at anytime, as they did on the Nautilus and your be regretting you did not move say the new retail jumps to 25K.

With box and papers everything here in US under 25K $ seems to be a great deal

Can't get on waiting lists in Europe for a 5167... At least for someone like me ie. have 3-4 watches ... London is full of people who can afford way more than this and we are getting foreign buyers as the GBP is low. So $20K is not that bad!
Been in Japan - similar story. Have been to Chicago PP dealer and they had a 5164 gold - but no stainless steel and as they don't know me - they said 'forget it' |

I'd jump on a used 5167a for $20k in your country with all the proper paperwork and if in great condition. Getting on a list for one in here in the states is very difficult through an AD and with sales tax your near that 20k price.

It seems like everyone here didnt notice that this thread was started year ago haha.. I was just wondering whether TS finally bought it at 20k instead of listening what people said year ago that 20k is nut price.

Good point. Also wonder why people don't call dealers, tell them you have _____ to sell and see what they offer you. Easy to find pics online if the dealer asks for pics.
