Patek Salon in Genveva
My girlfriend and I are going to be in Geneva late next week. I wanted to ask the members here that have been what the must see AD's/Museums are. We will only be there a few days, but I would like to explore some horological sights. Any recommendations would be highly appreciated.

Hello Cam
For the AD's I'll suggest you have a look at Rue du Rhône... |

Patek Salons, Patek Museum and a used watch store named Ponti were all great. Have fun.

first the Patek salon, have a little talk and mention you want to visit the PP museum, they'll give you free entry tickets

they should just put them in the paperwork when you buy a watch. They include a museum brochure. Seems a bit cheap to include an advertisement for it and not tickets

The PP museum is a must! There are budget accommodations in Geneva but staying somewhere nice is expensive.

Les Armures in “old town” is a fantastic, cozy place that is reasonably priced. They have an adjacent restaurant famous for its fondue which will be perfect for the winter time. The hotel is in a very safe, centrally located area, too.

Yes the hotels are very expensive on an european level. Hotel Bel Esperance was ok but no Mandarin Oriental.. and located near MB&F. Edelweiss hotel is a budget alternative but I have no personal experience.

OP, please let me know if you go to any cool spots while you are there. Thanks.

Go to the reserve for drinks or a cigar, brunch is overpriced also but quite nice. Bistro Lipp is cool for a late night dinner and has great oysters.
Have fun! And if you can, meet Nicolas in the salon and say hi from Justin- I was there this week. It’s sublime :)

For the Patek museum, if you can arrange a guided tour in advance it helps with the experience. You can pay for a private tour or you can check if they have any scheduled group tours in English and other languages.
About half of the Patek museum is a general horological museum with non-Patek watches and the other half is a historical museum on Patek pocket watches and wristwatches from the early to mid 20th Century. |

Boy! I'm so sorry it took me so long to get back into this thread. Arrived back home last night after a 6 hour delay leaving AMS. Our trip consisted of Amsterdam, Geneva, London, Brussels and then back to Amsterdam. So we were on the move quite a bit.
We booked at Le Richemond on the right bank of the Rhone. It's a well rated hotel, and the staff was extremely helpful/attentive. Our favorite part of the area happen to be the small square right out front with the Brunswick monument. A very cute cafe in the center that was perfect for breakfast and coffee. We seem to have an affinity for "Old Town" areas regardless of the city. Coming from a more modern US city, seeing older architecture was very enjoyable. So we spent most of our days crossing the bridge over to Rue du Rhone then making our way up close to the cathedral for lunch or a beer. The bar inside Fiskebar at the Ritz was great experience also. The Patek Salon was beautiful. I was able to try on a 5168g in comparison to my 5167 which was obviously fun. Spoke with a very polite and knowledgeable woman there. The Patek museum was a trip! Genuinely overwhelmed me. I spent most of the time there looking at the 1st floor with the modern wrist watches. The collections of porcelain painted pocket watches would take days to appropriately view and appreciate. Thanks for the heads up @SpeedyTuomas. Ponti was a great spot, everything they had in inventory was right up my ally. I could have tried on everything. I'm making their website a weekly visit for me. Thankfully my girlfriend left a glove there so we "had to go back" the next day Geneva is a stunningly beautiful city with an exemplary amount of culture and history. There seemed to be a never ending amount of high quality from clothing to food, everything is produced with a fine passion and attention to detail. |

Sounds like you had a great time! What did you think of the 5168G vs. 5167? It certainly looks nice in pics!
