5107G arrived/Question on box
After a few weeks wait, I finally took delivery of my 5107G. I’m pretty happy with it and it now joins my Nautilus in my small collection.
I have a question about the box it came with though. It did not come with the big wooden box that my Nautilus came with. Instead it came in a small, thin box along with the papers. See photo Did this reference always come in this type of box? The watch was originally purchased in 2002. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think that the rectangular leather box that you have is correct for most non complicated Calatravas until around 2006-2007 when Patek started using the black lacquered wooden box.
I actually prefer these older smaller boxes; they're much easier to store and the new ones always seemed like overkill. It's a very nice reference btw, congratulations! |

Congrats on the watch, I regret selling mine, as its one of my favorite calatravas (this and the 5196p). Mine was from '02 and had the exact same small rectangular box

Thanks everyone. Did a bit more research and indeed it seems that this is the correct box for this reference. Here are a few more photos:

Yes, I have a 2008 5196r that came with the same box. I agree the lacquered box is a bit overkill for a simple calatrava. The only issue I have with this box is that the interior dries out and cracks easily.

that is the correct box for that watch :)
It has nothing to do with type of watch and everything to do with date or purchase on that one

Thanks for the recommendation. Actually I just purchased a short strap from the local boutique this weekend. I went with the chocolate brown. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sweet, on my 6006g Calatrava the regular strap didn’t fit, so I also had to get a short strap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
