My thoughts on the Apple Watch
I haven't been blogging as much as I should be, so I took some time today to write up my initial reaction to the Apple Watch reveal. Curious to know what you all think!

I kinda like it! I would get the Apple Sport with some rubber straps.

Probably the best write up I have seen so far.
"For the general public, this thing will be in a drawer almost as fast as a Galaxy gear once you start to forget it on the charger in the morning, which is propriety so you have to bring it everywhere with you." That sums it up. We can argue aesthetics, functionality and usefulness but the battery life is the issue. People expect a watch to pretty much always be running...even WIS sometimes complain about having to wind a mechanical...imagine what the general public will do when they have to plug it in every night. I got my wife a YM 1 and she still hasn't fully grasped that if she doesn't wear it for 2 days or so it will need to be wound. I doubt the functionality will make it worth dragging yet another proprietary cable around with you. |

Nice write up. But, you made a whole bunch of assumptions about battery life. They are shipping this in the first qtr next year. Gives them enough time to fine tune battery life. The reason they didn't specify battery life numbers is because they probably don't have the final numbers yet. So any discussion on battery life is moot.

Bluetooth can be pretty rough on battery capacity. I'm sure that they will tune it. It doesn't have a sleep monitor on the health side and this could explain why. It needs to charge at night, not to be working at monitoring your sleep.

I would wait for the 3rd or 4th generation, thats when they get the products right. I don't want to hear "you're wearing it wrong" as an excuse!

Very detailed analysis. Good pick-up about the battery life: when manufacturers omit a key area of interest, there is usually a reason and it is seldom positive.

I wasn't too blown away. I'm keeping my Rolex and AP's.
