Alternative to Rubber B Swimskin

For less than a third of the price and with 24mm option, as opposed to only 22mm.

Hirsch Paul (they have similar options of George and James plus a couple of sailcloth options) https://www.watchobsession.co.uk/col...ormance-straps

Just arrived today and looks good. NB bar holes are only standard fitment - works fine with quick release bars.

Looks great. If I have known this earlier , could have saved me $$$. I have the rubber B for my 682. Damn!!
I read the website and it is actually a combination of leather (upper) and rubber (bottom). Rubber B is 100% rubber.
Great price though!!!

Looks ok but just like the price it is definitely less of a third of the quality you get from the rubber b. I was blown away by this strap and bought the black kevlar one also. You have to wear them to really feel the quality & being all rubber is even less worrisome for the pool. I agree with you also that they are only available for 42mm but when I got mine they did tell me that 44mm were being made.

The Rubber B strap actually sits better on the Panerai lugs also (higher up) because the rb has titanium insert barrels in it. Not to mention what I read elsewhere that Rubber B secretly created this swim skin rubber product for around 5 years to make it look so realistic in detail. Normally I do not believe hype or rely on claims, but I've seen other "rubber gator" bands before and they always looked plasticky or dull (fake). Looking at this incredible Rubber B "alligator" I can say without a doubt that this took a hell of a long time to get right.

I think your hirsch strap looks lovely, but it is not in the same category as the rubber b one on many technical levels. Sorry.

The Daytona swimskiin is awesome too. I'm still trying to figure out how they make it look like alligator.

Interesting comment - black rubber waterproof 'performance' watch straps that look like alligator.

So these offer an alternative to Rubber B, surely? With other colour and finish choices as well. Including real alligator https://www.hirschstraps.com/product...ch-strap-black

Of course this comparison is relevant. I own both a Rubber B strap for my Rolex and several Hirsch ones. Both companies make nice products. Is Rubber B better? I think so. Are they so much better it justifies the price gap? Not sure.

However I actually don’t see the need for swimskin straps on Panerais. They are designated divers and the fun part is changing straps. Why not pop one a real divestrap (rubber) for water and a real leather for other activities.

On the while I agreed but there are times would like to be able to have something a little more elegant than the Panerai rubber that can get soaked. I'm not adverse to getting leather wet, but for longer immersion rubber is preferable.

For me the SwimSkins work very well. Super versatile, as they look and feel great and can go in and out of the water. Higher quality than the OEM rubber strap. I prefer the ballistics, but the gators look amazing as well.

Your personal preference in subjective, I get that. But what exactly do you base this on? The new style accordions are amongst the softest and durable I’ve seen in years. But I have no tests to back that up.

Very fair point, my comment is based on the overall feel and I understand that others could feel differently. I also have no tests up back up my comment. To be clear, I have a black rubber OEM and love the look, and consider it to be high quality. I just feel that the RubberB is a notch or two higher.

YMMV.

Hey friend! I meant it in the way that one is full rubber & the other is part rubber and part alligator. So to me they are two different products even though they share similar traits. I own one of the kevlar straps and it's pretty amazing. Add to that the construction, the inserts and the quality of the rubber. I just don't think you are comparing apples to apples
