Looks fantastic OP. Well loved watches are those that attain timepiece Valhalla! May you continue to enjoy yours for many many more scars to come!

Seems strange to say but congrats on truly wearing and owning your watch as it should be!

It so rare to see on this forum. I subscribe to the mantra that you should spend the most amount of money on items used the most and visa versa too! My SD4K gets worn 24/7 no mater what the task at hand maybe.

I'm kidding! That's a beautiful watch that does the business! Ruined? I think not. Two hands

Love seeing a sub that's been "well-worn." I think there is an old thread somewhere in the archives about wearing your Rolex in the gym.... a couple decades of pumping iron with your sub on will give it some character too... (I mean, no one actually leaves it in a locker, do they?)

Love seeing well loved SS watches. There is always that moment, you don’t know when exactly it happpens, that you quit noticing the small scars that build and the watch becomes more enjoyable to live in.... at least for this OCD case. The best part, the watch doesn’t become any less beautiful.

I’m all about using watches for their intended purpose. But I donno. I still want it looking fairly clean. A few scratches sure but I’d probably feel better getting they polished and steering over.

Exactly. It just happened. When that was, I don't know.

Another theory is that, as weird as this is to post, I drink A LOT of water, and when my watch was being worn on my right hand, that hand entered pants zipper territory pretty often.

I completely understand people wanting their watches to stay MUCH more pristine than this one, by the way. Nothing wrong with that. But a few nicks here and there aren't gonna kill it or warrant a service. And again, my Explorer, be it worn far less than this, does not look like this whatsoever and I won't let it get to this point as I consider it my "dress" watch.

It's diesel. I know it's not a dress watch to begin with, but I officially won't wear it as one like I would a few years ago.

Why would you even dream of cleaning your watch with something as rough as a tooth brush? Use lens cleaning wipes or micro fiber cloths, only brand new ones, just opened to ensure there is no embedded grit that may scratch your watch. Do not use such cloths after they have had a chance to gather dust. My watch is about 18 months old and there is barely a scratch on it. I wear it every day, all day. I rarely clean it but if I do I use soft materiel that is 100% free of any abrasives.

The OP has kindly demonstrated the results of frequent harsh cleaning. Watch owners can decide for themselves whether they want to go down that particular path...

Methinks you need to switch to a soft bristle toothbrush.

Post Your Organically Brushed Watch Parts

Never cleaned mine except in the shower, pool or ocean. Everything comes from sand, zippers, cars, garage, life.

This is going a bit overboard IMO. I use a microfiber cloth to polish my watch every now and then, but a brand new one every time? Seems a little extreme.

Diesel as in it's just a strong watch that can handle being worn.

If you read the whole thread you'd see I use a soft tooth brush. The same soft one that has been used on PCLs and other polished watches that hasn't left a mark. Sorry I took the wrong path, according to you.

Wow that's been through a lot. I actually have an Explorer also but has basically no scratches on it. But also doesn't get worn too often.

To each his own but I like something with a somewhat fresher, shinier appearance. Maybe time for a Service now it reached the 5-year mark?

Love the cyclops delete....that’s one reason I liked IWC. Most of the pilot watches are all brushed

Your Sub looks like it was ridden hard and put away wet.
