Pretty sure that driving while taking a shot of your watches pics are banned on reddit watches. It’s a good idea.

Wow. But I’m sure that’s not stepping in the direction of having a social credit system.
Criminalize stupidity is foolish, spend that money on education.

For those that don't know, in the UK if you get caught touching a phone (calling, social media, maps anything) its an immediate 3points and fine. No if's no but's.

If you want you use maps, then set it up before you start the journey.

Personally, I have found this the total correct way and only way to police the mobile phone whilst in control of a car. I've seen too many accidents caused by people using a mobile when driving....

Indeed, and rightly so. It's just a shame so few are caught.

I never understood the purpose of this. Doesn't look cool at all in my opinion. I don't care what kind of car anyone has. I'm here for watches not cars.

Any photos above standstill is just dangerous. NY State is pretty tough on cell phone laws, so I rather not take any chances!

I'd be a better driver while texting and eating corn on the cob than 90% of the universe is with both hands on the wheel at 9 & 3....but yeah I wouldn't do that and neither should anyone.

In the UK this would result in a hefty fine and points on your licence.

Can't imagine an action shot of my wrist whilst driving being worth it!

I do!...as I could be the one affected by someone's or your irresponsibility if it so applies. If you were on your own planet by yourself, do as you please for all I care, but as it stands you are not alone and your actions if negligent can have dangerous ramifications, same as texting and drinking and driving.

Can this be moved off topic? The self righteousness here doesn't seem to be related to any rolex reference, but rather is a social/political debate that seems better handled OT.

At least this isn't a thread to complain about "I can't buy a SS Sports Rolex". At least that.

I take watch pics in the car but only at red lights or in my driveway. Not while in motion.

We have a new system operating in Australia. It’s based on cameras suspended from light poles and toll collection points. It snaps a photo of the driver (and believe it or not - what he/she is doing in their lap).

Our old legislation required the police to stop the driver, identify the make and model of phone and then they could book them.

Phone use laws are still flawed. You can adjust your GPS on your phone if it’s in a cradle and answer the phone if you can do it without touching it. Oddly though, it’s fine to fiddle with the radio - which is legal and I do it but mostly through the steering wheel.

And yes, I see the cornflake eating. Make-up applying, shaving and eyebrow plucking drivers in action too. One blow drying hair. While they are not great to do while driving either, this is a Rolex watch forum and I’ve confined my comments to the relevant act of watch photography while driving.

In full disclosure. I’ve had a coffee while driving. Although they don’t police it here too much, I have no excuse and admit that it’s not a great habit.

It’s good to have different opinions but elected representatives are largely legislating against phone use in cars.

How many accidents have you seen, and how many of those accidents can you personally confirm were not mobile caused?

It had to happen eventually - somebody trots out the “my grandmother smoked everyday until she died at 91. Therefore all smoking science is piffle”.

And now based on your sample of one, I’ll alert legislators to your stunning contribution in the form of inferential statistics. We’ll reverse all driving laws that are not consistent with your street corner immediately.

Thanks for your report.

I’ve never seen a woman doing a poo. I therefore conclude that women don’t do number two.

There’s quite a lot of evidence, if you’re interested. Just one study of many can be found here.

Agreed. Sadly, relying on common sense does not work unless backed up by some sanction
