Not that there is anything wrong with that!

The real answer isn't which is better, but which is better for you. I have a 36mm and it is absolute, 100% better (for me) than the 41mm. The 41mm is too big, objectively. For other people, the exact opposite is true.

I will say:
- the hidden clasp jubilee is objectively better
- the roulette date wheel is objectively better
The roulette wheel is SUBJECTIVELY better. I for one dislike them and will get the new Datejust because it doesn’t have one...

It depends on your wrist size. The Date Just 41 is definitely not 41 mm. I owned one and when I measured it was just under 39.0 mm . Which means it's a good size for a lot of people. Since my wrist measures 7.5 , I didn't like Date Just 41 as much as I like my Date Just II which really is 41 mm. I kept the DJ II and I sold the Datejust 41, which is a nice dress watch under a cuff, but to me, the bigger Date Just II on a oyster bracelet looks more sporty.

I feel the same way about the “ roulette “. ,,,initially I liked it a lot but over time I found it an unnecessary quirk and along with the rail track I found the dial to be quite jumbled but I think it really suits and looks good on the turn/graph,
How “ clean ” the dial on the new 36mm with no numerals is one of the reasons I choose the 36mm over the 41mm,,,
Can’t go wrong with either,
so very best of luck op,,,

It would be inappropriate for me to call you a cretin.

I will therefore not call you a cretin.

Anyone guess what I'm thinking?

Nope, I'm not gay. My point was wearing a 36mm watch on a 8in wrist looks gay. Nothing against gays.

I had a hard time choosing between the two as well, I was always leaning towards the 36 myself. I decided to take a leap on the 41, that ended up fitting me well, I will also say that the clue that the 41 would fit me well was that I did not have to remove any links to size it, in fact I am on the fence about needing to get an extra link, which I suppose means that my wrist is big enough to handle it.

oof.

If wearing a 36mm watch on an 8" wrist looks gay, how did people procreate in the 1920s?

My wife made me realise I sounded like a proper homophobic d’bag for having written this.
I would like to apologise to the community if I offended anyone. I’m not particularly proud of this, not the highlight of my humble contribution to this forum.

I’ve learnt from this and I’ve realised respect should always come first and foremost and I kind of made peace with myself.

Anyway since I’m banned forever (and rightfully so) I won’t be sticking around. Take care everyone and all the best in your watch collecting journey.

Regards,

Victor

I am not sure how Rolex measures their watches, but I have had a discussion on another thread on this matter, and I can tell you that the DJ41 when measured from 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock case back, it is under 40mm. Someone on the forum who has a digital meter to measure said it was 39.5mm.

I might be wrong, but if a DJ 36 feels tight on a wrist with its stock bracelet, then I would take a 41. I had the same dilemma when choosing my DJ. I have a 7’ wrist and a 36 said that I need an additional link, so I took a 41 and do not regret.

Honestly, both references are the breeze. Depends on how you prefer your watch to look on your wrist.

Currently DJ 41 is best bet but if DJ36 is getting 3235 movement, I will go with DJ36.

The color I'm interested in DJ36!!

Well now you have excellent taste in configuration (color).....
