All the time. I am at four now. The two I would keep are the SkyD and SD43, with the SkyD in the lead. I would sell the DJ41 and GMTIIc.

I could sell the Sub and get by with this one just fine. There’s nothing it can’t do.

I've thought of it but have too many and don't want to do that much work. If I were to live with one it would be the SD4K.

I just sold everything and reduced down to my DJ 41. Seems like a good time to do so.

Yes, thought about it. Probably keep the 114060 or sell everything and get a PM Sub as a daily

Don't want to hijack the thread but interested in a different, tangential question that's been running through my mind - if you think back to when those of you only had one watch, what spurred you to buy the second (and what was the first/second)? I started out with the BLNR as my one and only to commemorate a professional milestone but have been getting the itch to add a compatriot one of these days - go back and forth between whether or not I need another (practically speaking, no) and spending late nights on the forum boards and websites daydreaming...

Problem is, the longer you hang around here the harder it is to stop buying watches!

+1 here.

I've had a variety, and this one watch just does it all. There are several I like and have even repurchased, but this one tends to roll with me most days.

Ever just want to sell them all and just roll with one?

I enjoy my collection of mostly vintage watches, but if I had to go with just one it would be the simple do-it-all SubC “no-date” 114060. It is IMHO Rolex perfection (along with the Explorer 1 214270).

I've already started making routes to just one watch and thought I was getting there with my PP 5167, however, the AP 14790 arrived and hasn't been off my wrist. Maybe 2 would be OK

Nice watch OP! I have seriously contemplated getting that exact DJ as my second. I however skipped the buying multiple step and have worn my Sub 14060M everyday for almost 6 years. It checks all the boxes for me.

I actually did this recently. Long story but we had a home reno project that spun wildly out of control (started as a simple deck replacement and ended up adding a new deck and an addition to the house....) and I wanted to pay for it with cash without dipping into any savings or adding debt. My watch and guitar gear collection had gotten a bit out of hand anyway so I sold a ton of it. I have to be honest, it felt great. I'm sure it will build back up over the next year or so.

The surprising thing though, was the Rolex that I kept. I was 100% sure it would be the DJ41 (and I do miss it) but at the last second I ended up keeping the Hulk. Something about it just speaks to me more than any of the others. Can't really explain why but it does. I wasn't expecting that to be the case - I thought it would be one of the first to go. And it's turned into such a great every day watch.

Ironically, the longer I go with just one, the less I actually think about it. It's just "my watch" if you know what I mean?

I've thought about liquidating my collection and wearing only my YM. However, from experience of being a one watch guy with a PO2500 many years ago, I know it would be unsatisfying so I stay put and wear my 12 watches with delight.

Need 2 for when the other is getting serviced and, you know, to break the monotony.

I've considered it. I have 10 watches at the moment and they all struggle to get on the wrist. When I have considered pairing down my collection, my instinct is to find really iconic models from the different brands I possess. The problem I run into is that if I were to do that, I end up with only black dial watches.

If I were forced to pair down I'd go with a 114060 Submariner, Big Pilot, Speedmaster Professional, and PAM 233. Some of these I do not even own, but would purchase to replace other models of the same brand. To me, these references are more representative of their respective brands.

I could drop my collection down one piece, if I needed to. I would keep my 114060.

I have thought about possibly making the final purge down to one, and if I do it'll likely be for a 116619 (WG Sub), but the softness of PM's keeps me away. Some people like scratch magnets. I do not. I went from a twelve watch collection to a two watch collection. It's been so freeing. I still love doing homework on all the makes and models, but I'm really content with what I have.

I came close recently trading in 19 for 2 (one for me and one for the misses) and ending up with three Rolex and several extra non Rolex. It was a large load off of my shoulders. As part of the deal they are having my ExpII serviced and God only knows when I'll get it back. Also kept the SD4K.
