I thought about it but then each watch has it's own need. This one for dress, this one for sport, this one for casual, on and on. That's what feeds this habit :(

I did that once before. Lasted about a week and ended up buying 5 more watches within 6 months.

My watch and guitar gear collection had gotten a bit out of hand anyway so I sold a ton of it. I have to be honest, it felt great. I'm sure it will build back up over the next year or so.

The surprising thing though, was the Rolex that I kept. I was 100% sure it would be the DJ41 (and I do miss it) but at the last second I ended up keeping the Hulk. Something about it just speaks to me more than any of the others. Can't really explain why but it does. I wasn't expecting that to be the case - I thought it would be one of the first to go. And it's turned into such a great every day watch.

Ironically, the longer I go with just one, the less I actually think about it. It's just "my watch" if you know what I mean?

I get the Hulk allure. Not sure what it is about it, but my BLNR and Explorer II are struggling to get out of the box.

Ever just want to sell them all and just roll with one?

I have one or two other affordable watches around, but been rolling with this 16800 three years now.

Never flipped a Rolex yet and so am sitting at 12 (one of which belongs to the Mrs). I’ve given serious thought to trimming down the collection significantly, but I do like the variety of the watches I have although a couple of them have never been worn, I have inner Karma knowing they are there, but next year I may well have a serious think about letting a couple go to new homes for a CHNR. I can’t justify adding more to the collection but in time wil probably settle at no more than 5, and that’s only because I still haven’t found a single brand that makes THE one and only yet!

I was thinking, that if you do sell them all and you have all that COH, it might tempt you to buy all the ones you think you would like to try.

Certainly not!
Rolex is a kind of hobby for me, started when I was 12 years old, when I read National Geographic Magazine at my grandmother's house.
Stops when I die (sounds so dramatic).
Much too fun!

No, I can’t live without my 5711!

But if I had the choice to live with one watch, it would be my Sub!

Yea, I've done this several times. I always seem to max out at about 3-4 "nice" watches, and then sell everything but my 16610, and then repeat the process. I sold off all my other watches earlier this year and am just rolling with the 16610 and my Apple Watch. Will see if it lasts. I will say my AW is getting the bulk of my wrist time now though, I really do like it a lot.

I thought three watches would be ideal but after about six-months I decided two is all I need. One I can wear under a sleeve and one to wear with short-sleeves. Both tool but one dressier than the other, can pull off some stylish clothes with it. I'm pretty damn happy and it seems to be working well. Yes, I yearn for watches all the time, that hasn't changed and get tempted to add another and another. But in all honestly, I love the two I have and any watches outside of them would be purely for desire rather than sensibility.

1. Datejust from my birth year

2. GMT II Coke

If I could find a birth year DJ in very good condition, I might end up with this combo as well. But I can’t ever imagine getting rid of my bark Day-Date.

I just received an early 2000´s Explorer II (16570 black dial, lug holes, SEL, no engraved rehaut) and I absolutely love the thing. If I had to have only one, that would be it.

I can’t do it yet, because each watch has its own personality. When I’m feeling a little down I will pick a watch that is more meaningful, ( my Sub 1680 helped me during my racing career) going out, I love gold...

I am down to 4.

Bluesy - for dressy / holiday
Deepsea JC - ILove the dial / story
SD43 - I feel it's a vintage look with modern comforts
16600 - Let's be honest 5 digits are awesome

I would say the 16600 gets most wrist time and I prefer the heft to a 5513 I owned but do miss the plexi at times.

I feel like I could live with one and make memories with it but also have made memories wearing the others now.

I truly believe if there wasn't any social media/ hype etc. One watch would be simpler. I wear a watch then see an IG pic and think about my other pieces.

Im no where near ready to go down to one.

If I had to at this point there is nothing more versatile, comfortable, and wear anywhere than my 16570 ExpII. It's my daily. It was in 2007 NOS condition when I found it.

Plus it was a special gift from my wife on our 25th anneversary. No other watch new or old carry that connection.

The evolution of a hobby and probably life...

I have wanted and attempted to do that with other collections (one of the unmentionable around here)

I find myself on the other end of stick here, always had one Daytona for 15 years.
Traded into a ceramic, but now I want more watches....fun to shop as of course the AD doesn't have what you want; otherwise I would have too many.
