Panerai newbe questions
Was looking into Panerai since yesterday and i must say that i start to like them quite a lot..
Now i see a lot of things like: Do buy at a AD only as the replica market seems huge question 1: is buying via a trusted seller(grey dealer) as safe as buying a Rolex? Question 2: i see everybody talking about base models, true DNA.. Which are the Pams to go for so that you have not to much difficulties to get rid of it when you want to? question 3: How do these 45 or 47 mm watches look on a 6.5 inch wrist? Is it comparable in terms of big wear as a Explorer 2 216570, much larger? Question 4: How is it with reliability of this watches, service costs? Ultra expensive, normal? As easy to let it service anywhere as let say a Rolex etc?? And sorry for these n00bish questions, for some reason the brand never got my attention besides i known it and not it gets really interessing to me... |

But if you not feel safe, just pass. Is it too good to be true, it's not. About the size so will a 47mm wear smaller. Don't you have a chance to try one somewhere? BTW. Where are you located?

One of the best moves I made was buying this Panerai.
They wear very well for their size IMO. They are also fairly lightweight for their size. I have a 7" flatwrist and this 47mm fits perfectly IMO. Thank you to the enablers here ... you know who you are Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk |

Before buying anything go and try them. I was surprised what worked and what didn’t. I couldn’t find a Radiomir to fit comfortably, but have had 2 44mm Radiomir. I still have the 233, 1950 case, exhibition back, dome crystal and a true classic.

I like the PAM00424 and i see them listed between 4700 euro and about 6500 euro. But with a service you might expect on a 2015 piece or older i guess it better to buy new..
All like this reference? Thoughts ? |

2. Base is ace as they say and I have to agree. Panerai DNA 3. Varies greatly. 47mm 232 wears small, 45mm 243 wears massive as example. 45mm rads wear very small unless thick. 45mm 1940 rads wear bigger. To me, nothing wears better than a 249/232 47mm even on my 6.5” wrist. 4. Panerai service runs $600 for basics. Xtals are to much imho but you have no choice. Nothing like AP or Patek.

Yeah, I replaced the crystal on one of mine during service and they wanted like 400-500 for the crystal. I thought it was high.

Are there models in the current line-up you should really stay away from?
I just saw that the WR of all models is gone from 300 to 100 meters :/ what in **** ??? ??? |

Personally I’d stay away from all models in current line up lol,I’d go with older reference as they’re more reliable and less budget-y (if there’s such word)

I'd avoid the Due line like the plague. Those are just more Richemont disasters and should never be mentioned in polite company. Budgety is a quite apt discription of the direction Richemont are taking some of the Paneral line, making buying one even more difficult with out some significant research. |
