I just saw the white dialed version on the Omega website. It’s gorgeous. Might have to order one when they’re available.

I just can’t warm to it at all. Even in the flesh. But, that’s what’s great about being a WIS. Better than all of this is that you can actually go and see it, try it on and actually buy it! What a revelation!!

You don’t like the wave dial design on the new model, specifically, or are you talking about any of the Seamasters of previous years which also have the wave dial. I think the new incarnation of the Seamaster has thicker, more pronounced grooves?! |

I have been so close to pulling the trigger on the blue dial version multiple times now. I love the look of it but in my small collection (Hulk, Speedy, and Pepsi SKX) I am afraid i would find it redundant with the hulk. Not sure I need 2 colorful divers with only a 4 piece collection.

I have been on the verge of buying the blue one three times, and could not pull the trigger.
My problem is not specifically with the waves, but rather with the whole package. Sometimes I look at the watch and I find it gorgeous. Other times I find it a bit too much. Almost cartoonish. Like Omega was trying too hard to modernise a dated design. Specs wise it's amazing, no doubt about it. But I'm not sure I would still love the design a couple of years down the road. |

Have yet to see one in person but seems like quite the looker. Definitely will say I prefer it on a strap vs the bracelet however.

It’s nicer in person than pics. So, ya, I like it. However I still prefer the mid-2000s versions.

Yes. Although I sold mine, it’s still a great piece.

You're probably not the only one. I was in the same camp when I saw the first pics of the new dial.
Suffice it to say. I like the waves now...

I just can’t get over the resees pbc on the left.
Everything about this watch is so nice even the dial and they had to ruin it with that. Uuuugggghhhh.... |

Like others, I can't get on with the new model. Ive tried it on many times and its a great modern take on the classic SMP but to my eyes they spent all the money on the dial and bezel and forgot the bracelet. They were on a timescale so threw the old bracelet on it. I know its a flatter (modernised?) version but I dont think it works on the watch as the case is thicker. Completely turned me off the watch. The rubber is the way to go with this watch as it balances out the dial. In the end I went with an AT

I think it's far more attractive in person than in pix/on the web.

The competitors of the time were similar to now and most had plain, monochrome dials which, though there was nothing wrong with them, were hardly distinctive. I like that the waves were a little, but not too, busy. The latest iteration, like most of the recent Omega models, in fairness, to my eye has a much better build quality and seems a much more premium product. The finishing is a stronger feature. It’s a sharper, more defined product and I think the return of the wave-dial is a big contributor to that. The head of the new SMP is amongst the best divers available in my opinion. Where it loses it for me is the bracelet. I can’t bear to wear rubber or NATO straps unless I have to, so the bracelet, for me, has to be a winner. It just isn’t. The build quality is wonderful, however where on the older model the end links protruded out to connect to the following links, which gave the bracelet a visual direction of travel away from the case, the new bracelet has two pieces going into the end links, which reverses the visual direction. It doesn’t work for me, for reasons that are difficult to articulate, it turns me right off the watch. If they fixed it, I’d buy one. As is, it’s a watch I can’t love, though I do want to. |

I really want the white dial. Does anyone know if those rubber straps from the new Aqua Terra fit on the SMP?? I really want one on rubber but much prefer the design of the strap from the Aqua Terra. A little classier and more high end.

The white dial is just awesome. Can’t wait to see it in person. The Black Ceramic and titanium on rubber strap is on my list. Tried it on vacation. Just didn’t want to buy it while I was away.

I started to really warm up to this piece recently. Like many said the availability is there and price can be had right; just had a hard time deciding between the black or blue but now I think it is going to be the white. |
