I don't golf but I'll remember that!

The poker action just outside of Denver (Black Hawk) is nuts. Plenty of good tournaments and there's a 30/60 game that runs from about noon Thursday straight through till Monday morning. I'm headed there in about 5 hours when I leave the office (the wife's out of town...shhh!).

Love poker and was able to put some winnings into my SubC date and after I sold it, towards Daytona. Texas Hold 'Em is my game. Good action around Toronto area as well.

I wired funds for the purchase of an AP recently.

Here is the exact conversation with the teller. A nice lady in her mid-50s.

- Teller: What is the reason for the wire?
- Me: Why are you asking?
- Teller: Well, there is a section in the form which you should fill-in since it’s a large sum of money.
- Me: Ok. It’s for the purchase of a watch.
- Teller: {Pause…. Long Pause… Awkward pause….} … A watch???
- Me: Yes, a watch.
- Teller: {Pupil dialated, eyebrowsed raised, mouth open and a long weird pause again....} She looks around at her colegues in disbelief and asks me: Is it for you?
- Me: Yes, its for me.
- Teller: Wow, that is a nice gift to yourself.

I can only imagine what went through her head.

i hate it when people ask for the price of the watches we wear (i am sure all of us do). i try to avoid the topic saying something light like "we shouldn't discuss price of a thing of beauty and art" and try to laugh it out, and if they insist, i politely state i don't wish to disclose :)

If a close friend asks, I have no problem telling.
I guess an acquaintance asking would make me uneasy.

Nobody ever seems to notice, probably only watch fans and they will make comment. If it worries you get a PP Aquanaut on a rubber strap nobody will think it a fancy watch.....

A bit rude and unprofessional in my opinion!

Just wear vintage. Then your only question is "Why do you have such an old watch on? Can't you afford a nicer one?" Lol

Sneakers maybe.. I have the most interesting watch collecting discussion with a guy that knows nothing of watches but have 150 pair of sneakers. Surprisingly similar. If you start asking people of their own hobby collecting watches might start to sound less crazy.
