Sharp lens!!
Picked up a new lens this weekend and I waited a whole two hours before I broke it in on a photo gig.
This think is SHARP, especially given the fact that it was shot just about wide open at f/1.8!

Nothing fancy... Nikon D7000 with the new and inexpensive 85mm f/1.8. It's basically the much much cheaper version of their big dog, the 85mm 1.4.
This one is less than a third of the price.

The 85mm f/1.8 is an absolute gem, and very cheap for it's performance. Congrats!

Very nice shot fr that lens. I am partial to Olymous micro fourth thirds, but Nikon makes great cameras too.

I love the Nikkor nifty fifty - inexpensive, although it has been hard to find recently. The 85mm seems pretty sharp too!

yeah that 50 is a must have lens.
I also have a 35mm 1.8 that I find incredibly sharp as well. I'll tell you what takes great portraits... the Nikkor 105 macro. Here is a random snapshot of my wife, shot with the 105.
