5513 Submariner?

I saw this on Reddit which led me to his eBay link. Says it was a $2.50 thrift store find.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/173877105190?ul_noapp=true

Any details on this? Any way to confirm if it's legit/fake based on the pics?

Sold. Poor buyer. Zero feedback seller ie hit-and-run listing, even though account was established in 2015. Case is a basket case. Look at those lugs.

No, that was the sold price per Ebay. But do you really trust anything this seller says?

Yep, I bought it for $6500. Will keep everyone posted on outcome. We will see if the watch comes or not. What is a basket case?

Excellent - I suspect its genuine!
Its probably fitted with 1520 movement (NON chronometer) - so 1962/3!!
Then if you just change the crystal (leave the dial) you will have something VERY special

Keep us informed
"basket case" Dont worry- ::SIGH::

Probably not 1962/63 that's too early for a meters first. Probably closer to late 60's no?

Not sure 5512 introduced 1961 with crown guard.
Yours is NON chronometer (1520 movement) and meters first I still think cica 1962/3.
BUT NOT fully researched

Still an amazing piece - dont touch that dial or hands

For sure
Just checked 5513 was released 1963
BUT NON CHRONOMETER (like yours) caliber 1520 during 1963/4

Time will soon tell exact caliber, but I think 1520. What ever you have an amazing piece

Posted on the other thread but it’s strange the guys reddit profile shows him as a watch guy, has a small collection including a vintage Tudor. Doesn’t match with his innocent “is it real” post.

You’d have thought he’d know what he had and want as much as poss and be on all the forums bragging on his find.

Hope it works out, fingers are crossed.

Were there any non-date Sub chronometers before the mid-2000s?
