Prices slump by up to 50% for discontinued Rolex watches (Watchpro)

For sure. The brand and its followers seem to be into oversized Ben 10 watches.

A few years ago I tried on a 38 mm blue panda chrono (18.5 cm wrist) and before I could say I really liked the size the SA was making a comical frown and shaking her head. Told me I should wear 44 mm.

Jumbo 39mm might be their only appropriately sized watch for most people.

The 43 line in a 126610 sized package for 40k would be fantastic. Must be under 13mm thick. They wonít do it. Itís not in line with the offshores legacy I guess.

26331st fullset great condition went for 35k at auction. Chronos (compared to current pricing) are trading at a pretty significant discount to MSRP+tax

Thanks for this. I donít see these prices going up at the moment so thinking first quarter next year will be a good time for me to pick one up hopefully.

I'm actually surprised it went as high as it did. Daytonas definitely seem to be losing their lustre with the hype bros.

We are heading back to 2019 then eventually 2018 prices. Will be a slow steady decline to get there. People holding onto stock waiting for market to ‘recover’ are wishcasting. Prices are going down every month. Lot of delusions out there from dealers sitting on stock thinking things will change anytime soon.

DavidSW comes to mind. Their prices reflect the market from 1-2 years ago. Presumably they're still getting enough business even at that level (or they give a large discount for anyone who asks.)

I agree with most in this thread. Greys seem to be sitting on inventory and prices continue to slide month after month… all the while Rolex and others are pumping out more and more new watches. If you really want to see the market price for a particular watch email a few greys and ask what they would pay you for it.

Well, the upside is that he may be remembered as the Bernie Madoff of watch traders (although I suspect he may just be the first of many to go bust)

Nope. Wouldn't come down $1000 on an overpriced hulk. Two days later it sold.

Either not a legit sale or taking advantage of unsophisticated customers willing to pay way over market.

Or someone saw a watch they wanted for a price they were willing to pay.

Could also have accepted a trade in that they underpriced, thereby making up some of the difference.

Eh Iím going to lean towards some schlub bought it for way over market who doesnít know what current prices are for these. If thatís what these dealers are relying on to keep prices high lol good luck. I see that takuya still has an AP panda 26331 on his site for like 80k. Is there really some idiot out there who is going to pay that?

A "schlub" is someone that pays $3K UNDER retail for a fake Rolex. Paying a premium to a trusted grey, on the other hand, is a rather smart move in my opinion - assuming, of course, that you want the watch now and not 2 or 3 years from now.

Iím not talking about paying just a premium. Iím talking about those greys who are still listing pieces at top of market prices (e.g., a Daytona for 36k when the market for the outgoing model is sub $30k). Sites like DavidSW have pieces listed, from what others on here have said, for way over market. This isnít anything new. Greys will charge you yesterdays price but give a much lower number if you want to sell them the same piece.

Nah, terrible idea to buy from a grey, especially above retail.

Two tone and also stainless with WG bezel 41mm DateJusts are not just available these days at AD, but sitting there unsold, including with diamond dials. This is something new for the post-Covid era.

Any of the dealers actually play ball on pricing? Ie maybe they list high but willing to take an offer in line with whatever latest sales have been or maybe even slight premium?

I'd be interested in this too. Nashville watch and tropical watch both seem to be priced at market pricing. DavidSW seems to remain the highest. Have seen some higher prices from Takuya also. I really like working with David, but also don't feel right sending an offer that is 20% below asking to just get it inline with other dealers. Luckily I'm going to just keep waiting for things to continue to come down since I'm not in a rush. Or, wait for the call from my AD.

When you buy from DavidSW you are paying a premium for piece of mind. I trust him as much or more that most AD's No chance in hell you'll be sold a fake or defective watch from David.
