T127 crystal for 1680 RED..
Hi guys I am looking to change the crystal on my 1680 RED Sub but wanted your opinion on which is more correct and which would look better, proper top hat or a top hat with more beveled edges..
I have found original crystals from a seller and was hoping for pics of both examples to decide which one to get.. Below is a pic of my gorgeous RED and as you can see it has an aftermarket crystal with less magnification on date.. Thanks for any advise given.. IG: Jetkopite777 |

I prefer the proper top hat.
Regarding the difference between service and original crystal there is no difference here in Sweden. If you have it serviced in the USA you will get a beveled service crystal. When I serviced my 1680 here in Sweden a couple of years ago i got a new crystal installed that is identical to the original one. This was at a Rolex Service Center. Ask your local service center what you will get if possible! I have no idea if it was just my local RSC that had a few original type crystals left or if it is a difference between US and the rest of the world. Remember that Rolex USA is a separate company than Rolex. |

As I said before on IG mate - the more pronounced bevel is the more common service crystal you get now, from what I have seen. The original ones had a smaller bevel, and some of the earliest ones, which I believe were Heaslite, had a rounded 'edge' at the top. They are all correct. Pick the one you prefer!
