Another noob needs help please 1025 Oyster Perpetual
Hi everyone,
I'm not new to Rolex but I am new to vintage rolex so please forgive me if I say something dumb. My mum recently bought me this gold oyster perpetual from an auction but I'm worried she was ripped off. (Although she won't tell me how much she paid) From what I can (based on serial and model no.) it is a 1966 oyster perpetual but I have never seen a bezel like this before. Am I just too noob? Is it an uncommon bezel? Or is it non Rolex? The crystal is also very thick. Normal? Also the crown doesn't screw down properly and it sounds like the movement moves around inside the case when i shake it gently. (I know, it's sounding worse by the minute) Please any input/knowledge would be appreciated. Peet |

Watch appears all original. Bezel isn't seen too often but it's original Rolex, so is the crystal.
Likely needs a movement service and when it's serviced they'll replace the crown and tube. That's a wear and tear item anyway. What you hear when you shake the watch is likely the rotor hitting something. A wonderful gift from your mom, get it serviced and wear it and think of her. Until then, keep it in a dry place and don't wear it until that crown can be replaced and the watch serviced. Don't want to do more damage. Service will be $450-$750 depending on what parts you need.

The noise you hear may be the auto-winder. It could be slightly out of balance and need adjusting.

Congrats on the love of your mother. The Rolex is a nice gesture and glad it's authentic as verified by the previous posters. They know what they are talking about.
