Watches, travel with us, as part of our lives. Inevitably, it becomes part of our lives. As Rolex said, it doesnt only tell time, it tells history, our history.

Try to get it back. Most people will respect your emotions and reasoning

Like many have said, get it back if you can afford it! Everyone's different with sentimentality but you only have one first and you're here asking, right? :)

Without understanding your sentimental attachment to the watch it is hard to offer proper advice but here it goes. If it is just the first watch or separation anxiety then let it go. If it was a gift from a deceased grand parent or parent or anything like that I might get it back. Remember it is just a material object not a person. A lot of times I miss a watch when I sell or trade it but not when it is in the collection and not being worn. Your new watch is beautiful. Enjoy it.

Based on the title of the thread, I'd say you want it back.

But...
The two watches do serve similar purposes, so you have to decide if it still has sentimental value or has been inevitably upgraded and it's time to let someone else enjoy it.

Depends what value in has to you?
If it was I wore it when I was on holiday, fishing, snorkelling etc its not the same as an important step in life like marriage.
If you've got a good trade in price for it why not let it go afterall you can only wear one watch at the time.

Everything has a sentimental value cars, homes etc.
When you look at it another way even say a pair of shoes has a sentimental value if you wore them somewhere special.

But I think its down to the individual.

I had the same for my 36mm DJ and ended up buying it back from a friend 10months later. It never felt the same and the reasons for selling it (mainly size) came back to mind and i flipped again within 3 months. I often think of it but don't regret selling it. My wife had a 26mm DJ. I helped her sell and she bought another watch and never looked back

I too say buy it back. In fact, the very reason that you started this thread is good enough reason to buy it back. I did trade my first rolex (that I really didn't even like that much) towards my current bluesy (that I have had on every day for the last 10 years and love), and still, somehow I miss that old one and wish I never traded it in.

So yes, buy it back. Keep it in the drawer and don't even use it, just having it around will make you feel good about yourself.
