Rolex already anticipated the price decrease on WG pepsi ...

There's a 4% MSRP decrease on the blue dial version compared to the "old" black dial

No way... I just want my watch to be as is- with the black dial.

I was just in Vegas, and took the opportunity to talk to 3 different Rolex ADs there. They all had 116719 sitting the cases, and said it just doesn't move. People that spend $37K on a gold watch generally want to show it off, not have one looking like a stainless steel watch. Additionally, the used prices for the 116719 quickly settled around $22K-$24K, and always took a long time to move.

I don't expect any of that to change. Personally, I was never sold on the jetblack dial with the blue/red combo, so I think the new blue dial will look very nice, but again, it will be a slow mover.

I think used 116719 will remain around the same.

As pointed out in another thread, Rolex is reacting to a slowing sales volume in PM references. 10 K watches are their focus and we’re probabaly going to see more of the same.

If you take the long view, this could be the answer. I certainly would hold the course on ownership if I liked and enjoyed the watch.

It's interesting how we change our perception my friend. Not long ago, when shortage was at its summit, we had threads here about Rolex ditching SS watches and moving towards PM. And now we see the opposite..

Well spotted. They really are turning into a ruthless company. Just chasing profits now obviously. What is the point of white gold if it doesn’t have special details available on no other model? The new blue dial looks worse! Makes it look like a sub or something! I already think it’s gone too far on the sheer variety they have now and most of their watches look ridiculous now. Look how many Daytona variations there are! Half of those are just aimed at footballers wives! I genuinely believe the brand is losing it way...

Why is he panicking?

Does he not enjoy his watch anymore?

I thought the special details exclusive to this WG model were..... has a blue dial and WG oyster bracelet, available on NO OTHER GMT..

Rolex seem to be moving towards making lots of cheaper watches that the masses can all wear. Shame.

Time to upgrade to Patek perhaps...
That doesn't seem to be what Rolex is doing at all. Quite the opposite actually.

Isn't this what every company is after? If they don't they won't exist for very long. And Rolex would be able to make much more money if they start pushing out Daytona c's by the thousands. And they don't.

And the whole discussion about white gold; I like white gold (and platinum for the same reason) because it is more "under the radar". But every time I put on a watch of those materials I feel the weight and I know what it is. That's what is most important. I could not care less what other people think about it. Only if it feels special to me. Most people do not care about watches anyway and do not spot the difference between a $ 50 fashion watch or a $ 25000 blue subc.

The BLRO is still a beautiful watch (I like it more than the new model because of the jubilee bracelet; I don't like it) and in a while other people will realize that as well. May be in the short run the price will take a dip but in the long run not that much. People seem to forget that the models with the biggest rise in value in the long run are usually models that did not sell very well when they were current models (Daytona Paul Newman, original Milgauss, etc).

The SS Pepsi might knock the BLRO down on price, but not much.

However, that new blue face WG is terrible!

Short term reaction is probably a drop but the WG BLRO with black dial only had a short 4yr run so maybe it’ll keep its value?
In the Hodinkee video review of the new SS Pepsi they specifically say that the only bracelet that will fit on the watch is the Jubilee. I think on that front, the wg version will be differentiated.

The 16710's and earlier BLRO's are so different from the new one that they're different watches altogether. I don't see the new model effecting prices of the older ones at all. Would the Tudor GMT Pepsi effect Rolex prices? Or any of the other Rolex GMT copies made by everyone else?

Yes he is going to lose money definitely. There is no question about it.

Look at the prices of the 118208...solid gold oyster bracelet day-date used for ~14k. Why? Because you can get a date just for a fraction of that.

My prediction is WG BLRO is going to get the $18k range. The rationale is back when the economy was bad the 18k YG GMT got to that range.

Is it stockbrokers forum?)

I think the situation will be the same as WG Skydwellers market reaction on SS SkyD release

The same was said about the 116610LV and 16610LV when introduced. Now everybody wants them

The price cut in this market is a tough pill. I believe some were saying the Smurf has had a price cut as well.

I love my 116719, it's not leaving my rotation, it's the best watch I own! PP's and AP's have come and most have gone (still own one Offshore... and nine Rolex), for anybody that owns this origina,l they connected with it, and loved it (some didn't and moved on). It's the original, a keeper; time will tell whether it's coveted, though short run originals sold in small volumes have a history of doing OK!
