Incoming and Dropped

Hi Guys

I bought the black submariner brand new from an AD about a week ago and I already dropped it on a tile floor!!! Since its only a week old I guess I am oversensitive about it. What do you folks recommend? Can I get it polished out? The dent/scratch is towards the bottom edge of the watch (pic attached)

I wouldn't do anything about it. Especially on the underside. Part of the story of the watch

I would just let it be, and avoid dropping your watch going forward.

Definitely would annoy me since it’s brand new. But since it’s on the underside I wouldn’t worry about it for the time being.

Leave it alone. Can't even see it wearing the watch.

Really? Be more excited that you dropped it on a tile floor and that's the only damage. Half empty or half full my friend?

Tough call, initially my OCD would remind me the dent is there every time I pick it up.. But being on the underside, I would just let it be as I know I would eventually get over it and even forget it's there..

If you have even a little bit of OCD that’s got to hurt. Even though the damage is minimal, it still sucks that this happened so soon after being in complete mint condition. You can either leave it alone or if you know it will keep bothering you every time you put it on get it buffed out. It will suck not having the watch while it’s being done but at least you’ll be happen that it’s gone. It shouldn’t be deep so it won’t impact the shape much if at all.

Does it bother you when wearing it where the cut is on your wrist? If not, I'd just leave it alone since it's not noticeable unless you take off your watch

I've dropped an Omega on tile before. Guess which won? The omega left a nice chip in the tile. No damage to the watch.

Since yours is on the underside, I'd leave it be.

Give it a few years and you'll struggle to find it among the other scuffs.

I agree. There will be more. The first one always hurts the most but it’s a rite of passage for any fine watch that most likely will be with you for many years.

Looks terrible to you now - hideous. Give it a week, and you’ll forget it is even there.

As for the aesthetic angle, I agree with others that it is not worth addressing now.

If you notice any change in accuracy now (compared to that before the incident), then consider having it looked at by AD’s watchmaker or RSC or just regulated. You’d want to know now if anything is amiss inside from the impact.

I hope nothing’s wrong - you did dodge a bullet. Landing on the topside could’ve been really shattering (purposely punful)
