Don’t be fooled by the pics that make the blue look pastel purple. It all depends on the lighting. It looks much better in different conditions.

While I wouldn’t buy a watch because of its investment potential it’s safe to say this watch will hold its value better than the most sports Rolex. I would compare it to the Daytona, BLNR and both LV and LVc. Definitely will do better than the regular LN GMT and a black Sub Date or ND.

Of course I get zero hints from my AD. Said they will be in touch .... When will Rolex start to ship this puppy???? I have a 1997 GMT II Pepsi T Dial that I don't wear often since I got it back from Rolex Service. This one will be more of in my daily rotation.

It's another Rolex home run which will be initially scarce. Am I in the minority in really liking the RG versions?

This is beautiful of course but you can’t compare how Bakelite and aluminum take colors to ceramic. All three are have different hues. The difference on the ceramic is more pronounced because it’s shinier and also the colors change in different lighting conditions.

For example in darker lighting conditions, the blue on the BLNR goes from a dark purple to almost black and just about black in even darker conditions. When you go out on a bright sunny day, the blue looks just about the same the catalog representation.

I would guess August. That should be when most ADs start to really get them in. Some major ADs will probably have some before but those will be spoken for by high profile clients. Some Rolex endorsers will probably have them on their wrists very soon. Federer usually gets everything right away but I think he’ll skip the clay season so unless they have him one for Miami this week, it’ll be a while before we see someone with one. Maybe John Mayer. He always gets things pretty early.

All the pictures make it look that way, because it is that way.

If you like it, more power to you.

Your are right and it’s all a matter of tastes and opinions. I’ll be honest, I had to flip the LN for the BLNR because I didn’t like the black and blue at first - but here I am.

I’m torn with the Pepsi but who knows...

The more I look at the TT and RG, the more I like! If price was same as SS I might even go for RG. As it is, seriously considering the TT even though I’m on a “list” for the SS

Good luck

I agree. I think this every time I see this watch. It looks a bit awkward around the end links. Did they widen the bracelet too? Something doesn’t look right. Might be different on the wrist?

Pepsi is the true gmt,
Red=day
Blue=night

All other 2-tones seems lose this meaning.

Nice that the new gmt master II came out in oystersteel

But a Rolex sports watch on a jubilee seems pretty off for me

Personally, I think that...

sports watch = oyster bracelet

dress watch = jubilee bracelet

Then again...it's just my humble opinion

Dress watch = Leather strap

GMT Master = Pilot's watch

Sports watch = what, exactly?

???
Referring to metal bracelets only and nothing to do with leather strap nor pilot's watch

It’s growing on me, it’s nice but I’ve never liked the oversized bezel/font combo on the ceramic GMTs. The red is also a half shade of pink to me. The colours just seem slightly strange.

It just feels overworked. I prefer the Tudor GMT

Although the jubilee is a master class

The thread is about the GMT Master II, which is a pilot's watch.

I'm wondering what a "sports watch" is?

What I do know is that an actual dress watch has a leather strap, not a SS bracelet, Jubilee, Oyster, or otherwise.

Rolex Datejust is a dress watch example which comes in jubilee metal bracelets. Dress watches are not limited to just leather straps.

Maybe you can check out this site to see some Rolex dress watches

Its bezel colours are not as vivid as represented on the Rolex website by it is nonetheless a great watch.

i think a huge issue is its hard to photograph, the red and blue throw the color balance off in pictures. In much the same way its hard to get a good shot of a white dial watch as you need the white balance perfect.

There is a lot of photoshop involved, but i dont necessarily think its misrepresented as much as its adjusting for how hard it is to get a balanced pic. IMO the WG BLRO IRL looks like the official pics, not the purplish typical wrist shots so the SS should be the same as its the same bezel.

If you’re going to get as investment don’t take it from someone who actually wants a watch to wear. Speculative nonsense. Huge opportunity cost.

If you’re asking if it will depreciate, probably not. A professional Rolex should hold value fairly well.

Good luck

And just when I was coming around on this one

Good catch Clark, thank you for pointing this out

OP, I’m anxious to see this one as well. Of course it will sky rocket in value but I’d never buy it for that reason. I buy all my watches to wear and enjoy.

doesnt the link pivot there? So its not always going to jut out like that once its on your wrist? The bracelet looks like it was pulled upwards for the pic.

Perhaps you’re right Tyler ... it does look like it’s part of the moveable bracelet links and not the permanent end link

Thanks, I’m back on board

The Oligarch and Oil and Insta kids here probably will if their AD is not first, probably will buy 2 or 3 in fact from anywhere in the world, money is no issue, only being first and getting tons of likes matters.

After these guys are done, I'm hoping prices fall back to a more reasonable premium as you say.
