Fat Font- GMT Bezel...?

Time for another stupid newbie question. Does anyone know the cause/source of the fat font on my 16710 GMT Master II from 1996?
-what the font original this fat..., or did it the paint somehow expand to the current condition?
-I've noticed other gmt bezels appear to have thinner fonts...

Thanks,

Over past 40 odd years there has been many different fonts styles on dials and inserts. Like the flat four font that some rave about plus tiny insert colour variations.
