Just found Rolex Cellini Libertad 1971 Ultra Rare

Hello, i couldn't be happier with my latest purchase. This is unbelievable for me.

I wanted to share my latest find.

A 1971 Rolex Cellini Libertad. This piece was made to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Mexican independence. And only 10 pieces where ever made. In fact i believe this has been the only time rolex made a limited edition. Please correct me if im wrong.

There are records of only 8 pieces out of 10 and now mine, plus one more still lost in the world.

Please enjoy and let me know your honest opinion.

God bless

I found a guy from Houston that had the watch, and took me 4 months to convince him on selling the watch to me !

Shouldn't the date be 1947 not 1946 ?

They mention it in this Hodinkee article as well:

The case of the watch is in the shape of a 50 peso gold coin dated 1821-1947. It is engraved with "Libertad - Independencia".

Mexican coins have a lot of different years, maybe this was one of the early models, or different coin used. What do you think ?

"The case of the watch is in the shape of a 50 peso gold coin dated 1821-1947. " from Hodinkee.
The watch commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Treaty of Cordoba, hence the dates. The Cellini watch should have 1947 on it.

It is really beautiful, I hope the 1946 date does not end up being an issue for you.

What a treasure

50 Peso coins are just billion gold pieces, they probably just bought a bunch and used what they got. The 1947 has nothin to do with the anniversary in 1971. The 1821 does.
