Daytona C that much better than SS bezel?
Is the new Daytona C that much better than the older style SS bezel? I think I kinda like the look of the SS bezel, just don't know about how prone it is to scratches.

I think so!

If you look at the SS older bezel funny - it'll scratch.

Really, the two are different looking versions of the same watch. So whichever you like the looks of better, go with that.
But to answer your question, the steel bezel is certainly more prone to scratches than the ceramic one, which is very scratch resistant. But like the rest of the watch the RSC will polish it back to new at service.

Prefer the looks of the SS and the scratch resistance of the ceramic.

I put a nasty scratch in the bezel of my SS Daytona. At first I was on the verge of self-harming but now I've learned to live with it; I've found the angle at which to look at the watch so that I don't see it when I look at the time
The dial is prone to scratches but it can be replaced here at RSC for S$400 (£235 US$290). Not exactly a drop in the ocean but not the end of the world either. I'd rather have my 116520 and enjoy wearing it than spend 400 years on a waiting list for the C

I'm debating this topic within myself too. The problem is, I haven't seen a C in person and am not sure I can easily see one. I'm on the list to get one supposedly sometime in 2017, but I just found a BNIB unsigned warranty, etc... white dial 116520 from another AD not too far away.
It's tempting to go get the new old stock, but I'm wondering if I'll be kicking myself when I finally see the C in person? |

I just got the Daytona C black face and I love it! I am going to also purchase a TT white dial with diamonds in a few months to compliment it. I like having old and new. They are all fantastic watches.

Aside from the bezel, the only other improvement Rolex made in my mind is the legibility of the sundials.
Was able to compare the black dial 116500 to my black dial 116520 at an AD several weeks ago, and the 500C subdials had bolder font and and real no shine to them. Much easier to read. That being said, I still love my 116520 and don't think that it's worth the extra $ to get the 500C. |

"Better" !! You're missing the whole point.. It's new technology and something different, but it functions exactly like it always did, and likely isn't as durable. The waiting lines and high prices have nothing to do with "better"

It's totally personal. For me, the Daytona C is the first Daytona I've been interested since the 4 digit references...and it's the first ceramic Rolex of any kind that I've been interested in, too. I think it's a home run.

The non-C WILL scratch. I'm as careful as can be but hairlines show up no matter what and why I ultimately sold it. Daytona-C is on order now.

Maybe someday. |

To me, scratching is an non-issue on a steel watch. I think a well worn watch looks great. I'm just don't happen to like the look of the polished steel bezel.

Scratch resistant, for sure. Better? That's very subjective.

I just flipped my 116505 because I didn't like the bezel. It is prone to scratches and the numerals fade easily no matter what you do. IMHO it doesn't gives a good contrast to the dial and kind of fades away. On the other hand, I love the gloss and sharpness of the ceramic bezels on Daytonas.
attachment-6.jpg 20160917_090214.jpg I was going to do this modification but wound up not carrying it out. You can see it looks much better with the cerachrom bezel. attachment-6.jpg |

Depends if you like your watches to look worn or not. The SS looked well worn after a few years. The Ceramic will pretty much look the same. Love my white dial ceramic one

IMHO its like subs, GMT's, etc. Previous references vs new... Its just different... i like both, for different reasons... its a personal decision... ;-)

It's all one's personal opinion, and IMHO the ceramic bezel not only highly resists scratches, it looks more elegant too. SS bezels are scratch magnets.

Same movement, same case, same bracelet, different bezel. I like both but I think the steel bezel looks a bit better.
