1675 GMT - Need help please!

Hello,

I was wondering if the fine folks at TRF can help me out.

I can currently looking at picking up this 1675.
Serial 5,635,XXX
Not having much knowledge at vintage, I've been told that the only thing replaced was the bezel and bezel insert.

Everything else is supposed to be all original, albeit polished.

The crystal and crown seems to be replaced by Rolex.

Are there any other things that don't match up?
Any red flags? How are the dial and hands and date wheel?

The dial. hands, insert and bracelet have all been replaced at one time. (Dial is a service dial, bracelet is from a Datejust with a much later Z clasp. End links are for a GMT.)

I was wondering - how were you able to tell that it has a service dial and hands?
The hands and dial do not lume glow at all.

I saw that watch on CWC. If Springer says its a service dial hes probably right. Guy has a ton of knowledge. On the bright side the case of that watch is in amazing condition.

I was looking at that one too. I noticed all of the things Springer mentioned but wasn't sure about the dial. It's a nice "new/vintage" for an every day wearer if that's what you want.

There are plenty of tritium service dials for many Rolex references. The dials just marked "Swiss" are simply later replacement dials with luminova. Rolex fitted its watches for decades with tritium service dials, all the way up to the late '90s, although the ones without the white gold surrounds would have been earlier, of course. And oddly, there are even some luminova service dials that are marked with the "t" for tritium.

There is a GMT 1675 dial thread here in the vintage section. It has many photos to include all the service dials for the GMT 1675.

They do not glow because they are tritium service parts. Luminova service parts weren't introduced until the very late 1990s.

At the time luminova was introduced, the first batch of service dials were marked SWISS T< 25 at the bottom then later marked SWISS. Some believe the earlier SWISS T<25 luminova service dials have a different glow than the the later dials marked SWISS but I have never been able to tell the difference.

By the way, the seller is being very deceptive to you regarding this watch.
