Date Just Lapis Lazuli Dials
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knew what year Rolex introduced Lapis Lazuli dials to the Date Just model? I have just purchased a 1974 18c yellow gold Date Just with a lapis dial. I believe the dial is a genuine example, but what I would like to know is whether it is original to the watch itself. I have attached a couple of images for reference. One area of contention is the T Swiss T marking. Now, I know this would indicate lume hands/markers, but my watch has no markers and plain hands. Almost every other example I've seen has the exact same markings, which is very confusing. Anyway, any help/information would be very much appreciated! Thanks, Gerry |

Apologies - I'm unable to upload photos from my phone... Hopefully someone can shed some light on what year the dials were introduced anyway!
Thanks again. |

Totally correct. They all had T SWISS T
Non lume hands and no lume on the dial. Just the way the print was set. |

i had one from 78 like yours.
Rolex knows...but they won't tell you if your watch came that way or not. :-) Mostly when they've been swapped people put regular hands with lume. I would bet your watch came with that dial. |
