15202 or 5711?
Random question, do you think more 15202ST are sold every year or 5711/1a? (only counting new sales from an AD/Boutique)
I would think more 5711s, which begs the question - if the 15202 is the rarer watch and the original Genta design, shouldn't it be trading for high $40s as well? |

"I got a new jumbo"
(I got a new jumbo) "I got a new jumbo" (I got a new jumbo) "Put those pateks in the dirt!" Only a matter of time before the migos develop a taste for the jlc sourced ultra thin 2121 movement. Then we are all rich. I do not think the 15202 will ever surpass the 5711 in secondary value. As for the question, I am inclined to guess the 5711 is produced in higher numbers but also has significantly higher demand hence the higher resale.

The entry priced watch has room to go up as there are no alternatives at lower price points.

I think “entry” Nautilus it’s not anymore “entry” Nautilus if we look on the secondary market!
I don’t know I like AP 15202 more but I think will be dificult to be near PP. IMO |

If it helps, the AD who is supplying my 5711 said they receive 2 per year per store and they have 5 stores. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I concur on 5711 numbers. ADs receive 1-3 5711s per dial color each year. On the other hand, as per my AD, 15202 is Boutique only now and ADs will at most receive one 15202 allocation per year. This one allocation usually comes from leftover boutique allocation.
So, more 5711s may be produced because AP is closing down ADs. However, 5711 doesn’t have to share the market with a 37 mm 15450 and a 41 mm 15400 as in the case of 15202. Further, 5711 will fit almost any wrist whereas 15202 may be large for small wrists. Those may be few reasons why 5711 is desired more compared to a 15202. |

I think the AP is the more beautiful piece, and I proudly wear mine all the time, but the reality is that Patek have done a way better job positioning their brand than AP.

PP has risen above AP in this surge, much like Rolex has above all its rivals put together, so with such momentum and demand behind these 2 brands they are untouchable, regardless of their supply.

15202 and 5711. Both iconic, unique and Genta. I have the 5711 and got the heads up 30 minutes ago my jumbo came in.
Kinda leaning towards the jumbo right now, but probably a combination of anticipation and recency bias |

Hi Jay, congratulations on the Jumbo! did you manage to source it locally? I was last week asking at Zadok, local AP distributor in Houston, and they said they had not been getting any lately.

Its all perception, hardly anything intrinsic that differentiates the two. Maybe AP needs to ramp up the marketing.

They are not as rare as you might think. Had a sealed one in my hands two weeks ago. Just gotta be that top dollar customer or pay the ridiculous market, either way: gonna cost ya.

not the best source but AP's official facebook page replied to a comment once and said they only make a few hundred 15202st per year. its there somewhere, and i saw it. So take that with a grain of salt.
There are far more 5711's than that produced.

Reality is it does not matter if the demand is not in line.
Demand for 5711 is probably 3-4x supply whereas demand for 15202 is probably double supply.

The realistic answer to the question that the OP posed is no one knows. It's all idle speculation as how many of each AP and PP produce are well guarded secrets. And you can't tell via the number of incomings, how many are on Chrono24, Instagram, etc. either.
The prices on these models are being driven by simple supply and demand. I would make an educated guess that even if the 15202 is produced in smaller quantities, demand is still much lower relative to the supply when compared to the 5711 because of the availability of substitutes (the 15400 and 15450.) Whereas with the 5711, there aren't the same types of substitutes (the 5712 in my books is apples to oranges as it's not time-only). Plus, I still think the 15202 is a much more niche watch than the WIS would like to believe - to most first time buyers to AP, you put the 15202 beside the 15400 and the 15400 admittedly feels like more watch for less money, and the value proposition of the 15202 only really seems to reside in WISland. With the 5711, there isn't that cannibalization of its own market, and a good chunk of Nautilus demand is focused all on that one piece leading the crazy prices. Again, I'd love to be proven wrong. 15202 to $100K FTW! |

5712 is the best one in my opinion. After that is the 15202. Personally I’m not a fan of the 5711 and I also think the 15202 should be priced somewhere between 5711 and 5712.

The 15202 is the original with a more historical movement and the first luxury sport watch but the 5711 says Patek on the dial and I'm sure there is still more demand for the Patek name by the general public. With the WIS community they can make an educated purchase on the model they prefer for the right reasons.

Thanks! No, I was able to get the jumbo at a boutique out of state. i did buy another watch from them last year so that definitely helped. I really like Zadok's , here in Houston and have a good relationship with them but they also told me the Jumbo was a no go. |

I haven't been following the prices of all these models, but if that's at least same or a bit higher than price of 5711 then I would say yes. I strongly believe there is no logical reason at all why a 5711 should be more expensive than a 15202.
Obviously the 5712 is mechanically superior to both of those watches, and in my opinion, aesthetically as well. |

Just walked past a local grey dealer, Bright Time, that had the white 5711 next to a 15400 white dial, and found the 5711 to be underwhelming next to the 15400 actually...for double the price..doesnt sound right.

My personal preference is the 5711. That's all it is. Personal preference.
