Go straight for Patek, or start with...

Trying to get back into the wonderful world of watches... now decisions to make...

Have owned several Rolex watches, sold them all... 2 Daytona’s, 2 subs and the explorer 1..

I love the new ceramic Daytona, id like both, the white and black dial, is it worth the wait given I won’t pay the markup...

Or do I go straight into Patel, the 5164 I love...

Most Patek owners own Rolex as well, as they serve different purposes.

Get the 5164 now while you still can. Then get the Daytonas later.

This guy's got a good plan for you.

I'd just pick up one of the stainless 116500....then pick something else....I'm only looking out since you mentioned you sold your previous Daytonas.

Now that I'm into PP and AP it would be really hard to go back to Rolex, as great as they are. Unless maybe I was doing something where I needed a beater watch.

Would use Daytona’s as work and beater watches... rotate between black and white

I don’t even love the Daytona, just feel like it’s a great baseline for the collection...

only thing is need a watch to wear when it goes in for service which ideally wouldn't happen for years.

I'm curious you choose the 5164 of all Pateks, which would rarely have been the case 6 months ago. Is it because of all the great forum enabling pics or the availability of it versus the other Nauts and Aquas?

When talking watches at a Houston AD recently when the 64 came up they said its the one watch that is the common denominator for most Patek collectors they see. No matter what they have or what their focus is, they all seem to have a 5164. Thought that was interesting. Makes sense too.

I love the dial and the symmetry of the dial, id go with the 5167 but I honestly dislike date windows...

As far as patek’s As a whole there are many I’d like, but for me, the 5164 is very wearable as a daily...

I'd go Patek, and then get a Sub instead.

What is your lifestyle

what is the purpose of the watch

how do you plan on using the watch

Give us an idea of is it going to be a Safe Queen or something for a suit something for diving...

They will all be worn regularly... in my mind daytona’s Would be for work... I’m casual jeans and shirt, no suits, I don’t dive, I travel a bunch and I’m a hairstylist who happens to love watches...

I’d get the 5164 first. More attainable than the 116500 right now.

Can’t go wrong with either watch. 5164 + white Daytona would be my preference
