I'm really not. Do you have access to Apple sales numbers or some other data? The Apple Watch really doesn't fit the Millenial narrative. It's not consistent with this study either.

https://medium.com/wristly-thoughts/...s-db60d565d041

The Apple Watch is much more of an older, well-heeled, early adopter sort of buyer.

The issue w the smartwatches is that once you start wearing and getting used to one, you sort of feel naked when your phone rings and your wrist doesn’t vibrate. Lol. In other words, it is pretty addictive, IMO, but I will never give up my Rolex and wear them as well.

That would be me, but then, I decided to go back to mechanical. I now only wear my Apple Watch at the gym.

Born in '88 and 29 turning 30 in a couple months. Have always admired watches and all things mechanical and spent countless hours in college lusting over watches on forums. Didn't have enough resources until a couple years ago to buy anything nice and then I went nuts. My watch history goes something like this (age acquired)..

Panerai PAM 0048 (26)
IWC Portofino Chrono (27)
Girard Perregaux Richeville (27)
Rolex GMT 116713 (28 but since sold)
Rolex DD36 118238 (29...a month ago)
Rolex Daytona 116528 (29...a month ago)

Very blessed to have owned these watches and don't ever see myself without a mechanical watch!

Technically yes. I just posted about an Apple Watch. I am on a wait list for a Daytona, Rolex doesn't want me to own a Rolex. In my mind, it's on Rolex, not me :)

me too, 1980. I have more in common with a millennial than gen X so i guess i am one.

1983 here so I fit into the age bracket but not so much the stereotype. I certainly value experiences and adventures and love to travel but also have an appreciation for high quality products in various forms - watches, cars, tools, furniture...

I was always interested in watches since I was young despite no enthusiasts in the family. I've worn watches since I was 10 - Timex, Wenger, Movado, Tissot.

I studied mechanical engineering in college and was fascinated by the engineering behind mechanical watches. When I got my first job I bought an Omega Seamaster Pro 2254 and that was my first mechanical piece. I've added an Aqua Terra 8500, SubC 114060, & Seiko SKX007 over the years and would never consider purchasing an Apple Watch. Mechanical watches have a soul that no Apple product will ever have.

1983, I'm an older millennial, but I don't really identify with the generation that much.

28. I think that qualifies me as a millennial. Currently own an AP 15202ST, PP 5164A and have the LVc, BLNR, SD4K and SD43. Have a further FPJ CB and both DaytonaC arriving soon.

Around 2015/2016 I took a hiatus from watch collecting and went to an Apple Watch.

I started collecting since I was 18 and I've owned about 30 mechanical watches in total, from AP (10 of them), PP, Roger Dubuis, Breguet, Blancpain, IWC, JLC, Omega, Tudor, Ulysse Nardin and Rolex.

Technically making it into the millennial bracket ,

Have the humble privilege of having 3 mechanical time pieces altogether, 1 Apple Watch, 1 G Shock & 1 Citizen. I wear them in rotation.

Money is SO HARD to come by - Millennial rant.

33 with SD 16600. Love Apple products, but I think the Apple Watch is ridiculous. I see more older (60+) people wearing them around me than any other group, but I draw no conclusions about who wears them most in general.

I feel that born in 1994 I must be one of the youngest here, I own a BLNR and have had it since I was 21. Was a bit of a present to myself. Thought process was basically why have the money sitting in the bank saving for a house when I could be wearing it. Would appear I was pretty lucky buying it at retail, it’s done better than interest any bank would have offered. Often I think people can stereotype myself because of a Rolex at my age as materialistic but it’s more that I appreciate engineering, design and quality. I also own a Leica which is kind of the Rolex of the camera world, again, not a bad place to spend money. Seems that is more frowned upon than the large majority of people that are my age spending it on booze and nights out! This is the best forum I’ve ever come across, it’s unbelievable how friendly everyone is!

Apple Watches... owned by old people. 54% of owners are older than 45. Relatively few are millenials.

Where did you find that stat? Interesting how the older population likes it more. Maybe bc it is so novel for them??

That survey data is flawed in several ways. It is all self-reported and almost half of the panel of 2500 didn’t respond.

Millennials may have under-responded while the older ones did - and the data is from 2016.
