Will the new GMT II Pepsi dial make the BLNR less desirable

Any thought? Plus I think prices will drop a little?

Hope so, because I want a BLNR.

I don't think so personally. I imagine it will stay strong as it has since day 1.

The Pepsi GMT will undoubtably take away some desirability from the BLNr simply because, if nothing else, it is the watch of the moment, and lots of people are only interested in that.

Just like daytona and other models, I think when pepsi is hard to get, people will look back and appreciate the BLNR etc

I think it will definitely take some heat off the BLNR just because it's another option playing in the same space.

However, I much prefer the BLNR aesthetics.

Since day one, the Rolex GMT Master had a red/blue bezel.
Now it has again. Pepsi rules!

Maybe a little for aforementioned reasons, but many still prefer the oyster bracelet and color combo of the BLNR bezel. While I personally like the jubilee, it is a polarizing bracelet for a sports model.

YES. Of course. Nothing beats BLRO.

Not from the past, not in present. BLRO is always the most desired GMT from day one. Especially when it is in stainless steel. RONR coke is never as strong as BLRO.

So far the new Pepsi is the only GMT with the redesigned case and new movement. At some point they will eventually update the other models in the GMT lineup, including the BLNR (if it continues). I wonder how people on a BLNR waiting list feel about still getting the current version as opposed to an updated model. I suppose value of current models could be effected as well when the new version rolls out.

Purely from an aesthetic viewpoint, and to a casual (who clearly make up the overwhelming majority of customers) rather than a WIS, the BLNR is closer to the Sub-date than the BLRO.

I was wondering this as I'm on the waiting list for a BLNR and no the SS BLRO too. I would only actually buy one of them and I'm leaning towards the BLRO for the new movement and the jubilee. Thankfully I'll have quite a long cooling off period to think about it while I'm on the waiting list.

Correct. appreciation may slow but folks will desire the BLNR because of the still unique bezel and it has an Oyster bracelet.

I think the LN's already slow pre- owned appreciation will suffer. They are everywhere used including 17610s.

Maybe we'll actually see one in display windows from time to time. Who knows though with it's already long wait list and the perception Rolex is cutting Professional watch production time.

I would think that one of three things will happen with the BLNR.

1. Continues with the 3186 movement, only Oyster bracelet option, and in theory at least a few hundred dollars cheaper than the new Pepsi.

2. Upgraded to the new movement, potentially with the option to add an Oyster bracelet.

3. Discontinued.

In my view, #3 is the most likely. That would put a fair amount of upward pressure on prices. #2 is the next most likely and would increase the BLNR's desirability. I view #3 as unlikely, if for nothing else it creates the impression of an 'outdated' model and I don't think that's the message Rolex wants to send.

I hate to break it you folks but the BLNR is in a league of it’s own !
Many have to tried to cripple its fame and rising stature amongst
the greats of the Rolex line up but it just keeps on shining !!!
The Pepsi , Coke , Root Beer ( Espresso ) if you will and even the
standard black bezel gmt truly have no affect on this ingenious
combination...
Why ? Because it makes sense and is just as versatile
as the Black Bezel gmt with a little color
which makes more desirable!!!

I think it may have some affect naturally in the long term but for the next year or two demand will continue to be strong for both.

I think both watches will be strong until supply meets demand. Then it will be a matter of choice.

1. First two color cerachrome bezel.
2. A unique color combination that works well for many.
3. The fact that most Rolex buyers are not WIS’, and thus don’t have any embedded desire for Pepsis etc at the expense of more modern designs.
4. Even though Rolex is a mass produced brand, there are not as many BLNRs out there (as compared to, say, the GMT LN or a date/no date Submariner).
5. And talking about the GMT LN, it did not ‘crash’ with the introduction of the BLNR.

Both pieces will function well, and as part of a bigger collection complement each other nicely. While I will purchase a SS BLRO when I get one (as well as either the TT or full RG Black-Brown), I intend to always keep my BLNR God willing.

I think it’ll have an impact, but I think the BLNR will remain a strong seller and probably go down as one of the best modern Rolex ever.

Wait a minute Brian. Now I'm confused. Isnt Batman Ref 116710 BLNR now a discontinued model?

Yes as in Yes or No as in Yes? Seriously, Rolex has ceased production of the BLNR Batman as of yesterday. I could show everyone here the blogsite that made the statement

I think it will still do well. People will go in wanting a Pepsi, find out they'll never get one, and then buy something else like the BLNR.

If there was supply of each I bet it would certainly hurt the BLNR sales but like others have said when the Pepsi is selling at $20k for the first year a BLNR looks pretty good at $9k

Before the release I wondered how they could release a new gmt without discontinuing one. Now I am wondering if they will keep some models with oyster and others with a jubilee and case size slightly different so you can swap bracelets. That might give enough of a difference to let them live together in the catalogue
